Thanks for your answer :) I just learned recently at my Institute class that the Our Father prayer also isn't very popular in the LDS church, which I was to a large extent surprised at.
Is Lectio Divina at all a practice? I can certainly see how people can use it for the Book of Mormon if it...
I suppose the Biblical authors didn't see that much of a need to address the issue. Certainly though, there are interpretations that can help imply the Bible never wanted slaves. Martin Luther King Jr is a great example of how the Bible can inspire men to put an end to racial injustice...
I don't have any specific view on dharma, mostly because it isn't my own faith.
Krishna's an interesting fellow.
This is more complex. I study with a Hare Krishna family whom I'm friends with every Tuesday and we discuss our beliefs. The mother is a convert to the faith who left the...
My dear Saints, I've got two questions that I am curious about.
What is the LDS understanding of mysticism?
Do you have special prayers or activities you do personally that you would describe as mystic?
Thanks
I suppose my rituals could include chanting God's name and doing the rosary. Other than that, I simply try to kneel and submit my will to God. Catholic pews can obviously come in handy for this situation!

Also, what is their official name? He simply called them rosary beads but they are definitely...

Hell is viewed as a separation of God while heaven is enjoying the closeness and love of the Almighty. The last part about adoring God for simply who he is really touched me. Thanks for posting that quote :)
Spoken languages go back much farther and are not confined to just Mesopotamia. Some societies simply didn't create a writing system before then while others adopted the writing systems of others after times of conquest.
Theologically speaking, the Tower of Babel can help explain our diversity.
Scientifically speaking, I'm a doubting Thomas.
Try to appreciate both views, they're both pretty interesting.
Indeed, there are still such people. At my college, there are about five that I think of off the top of my head. One of which is very crude and it is often entertaining to watch people debate him while on break.
Please be more respectful to your fellow posters.
I narrowed it down for you (not only to answer what I think is a question, but also because I don't have enough posts to have URLS in my posts). It was perfect for the time. Other posters here will probably go into more detail if you want...
