    United Church of Christ

My point is to try to clarify how and why these denominations could possibly merge into the United Church of Christ when they had totally opposing doctrines. So far I haven't seen anyone involved in the Church explain anything here.

    Church and State in Christianity

If it turns out that the doctrine of the sacral society was inherited from the Jewish Bible as the theological or theocratic kingdom, then that would explain how the Catholics, Lutherans and Calvinists got the idea. But what was their theological pretext for giving it up?

    United Church of Christ

How is it or was it possible for Lutherans and Calvinists to unite into one denomination when they have so many theological differences between them historically? How can there be Lutheranism and Calvinism within the same denomination?

    Church and State in Christianity

I realize the opposing view, but how did the Lutherans and Anglicans and Reformed justify their adherence to the state and church unity to the point of condemning the Anabaptists who rejected that belief?

    Church and State in Christianity

OK, so here we can focus on Anglicanism. We know about the wars and persecutions by the Anglican establishment of those who were withdrawing or being radical reformers and who considered the Anglican church as nothing more than Catholicism without the Pope. Whether they were Presbyterians...

    Church and State in Christianity

Thank you but your reply doesn't really answer my questions specifically about the original links of state to church that continued from Catholicism to Lutheranism, Anglicanism, Zwingliism and Calvinism.

    Church and State in Christianity

Greetings, everyone. I am very curious how Lutherans, Reformed and Anglicans view their magisterial religion which classically ties/tied church to state, regardless of individual free choice, as typified even by infant baptism, whereby a human being is initiated so to speak into the official...

    Islamic concept of Mahdi/Jesus/Messiah

It's difficult for me to take the stories of the gospels seriously as historical information because there is strong evidence that the NT was composed in the days of Constantine. It may even be that the contradictory teachings about a Jesus figure in the Quran were based merely on popular...

    Islamic concept of Mahdi/Jesus/Messiah

Isn't it interesting that this reference to Jesus and the law contradicts what it says in Matthew's version where he is quoted as saying he has come to FULFILL the law, and that not a jot of the law is to be abandoned......

How do Baha'is and Ahmadi Muslims relate to each other?

Didn't you contradict yourself in your two postings regarding Point #1? If you believe that Mirza Ahmad was equivalent to Mohammed, then you can't say what you did earlier. If he is equivalent, then he cannot be like Aaron was to Moses because Aaron was NOT equivalent to Moses at all. And what...

How do Baha'is and Ahmadi Muslims relate to each other?

Paarsurrey, then what is the difference between the Qadiani and the Lahore minority sect if both claim Ahmad the Mahdi is not like Muhammad? And what criteria do majority Muslims have for rejecting Ahmad as Mahdi ?!

How do Baha'is and Ahmadi Muslims relate to each other?

Ironically, in terms of following, how is it that 99% of Ahmadis (Qadiani) accept a teaching that runs counter to all majority Islamic views and believe that Mirza Ghullam Ahmad was the same as Mohammad as Nabi/Rasullah??? How is it they strayed so far, as compared to the tiny alternative group...

How do Baha'is and Ahmadi Muslims relate to each other?

This is basically the same interpretation offered by Charles Taze Russell and Joseph Rutherford which became incorporated into the theology of the Jehovah's Witnesses. In addition the 1844 move to the inner chamber is somewhat similar in terms of some spiritual change of Jesus as proposed by the...

    The Trinity in Luke 2:40-56

Then one could have Jesus say on the cross: "Myself, myself, why have I forsaken myself?"

How do Baha'is and Ahmadi Muslims relate to each other?

What exactly was the theological explanation of Baha'ullah to abandon Islam for new religious teachings, when the Bab himself never advocated such a thing, and Baha'ullah claimed to be the promised one intended by both the Quran and the Bab? And why is it that in general discussion of the...

How do Baha'is and Ahmadi Muslims relate to each other?

Yes, thé phenomenon of the State of Israel is mired in a web of 19th century European nationalism, eastern European Jewish xenophobia and paranoia, and colonialist paternalistic racism and atheism. It's quite a combination....

How do Baha'is and Ahmadi Muslims relate to each other?

Although the religion of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad the Mahdi/Messiah of the Ahmadi sect (which is sharply divided over the status of Ahmad) and the religion of the Baha'is of Mirza Hussein Ali the Mahdi of Baha'ism, are different from one another, it seems that the bottom line in this generation is the...

How do Baha'is and Ahmadi Muslims relate to each other?

Excuse me, but making observations about the ideas of religious teachings is not called trashing. And if you'll notice I did not bold my opening posting of this thread.

How do Baha'is and Ahmadi Muslims relate to each other?

It's an interesting question since both fit into the same category vis a vis being offshoots of Shi'ism and standing in contrast to canonical Sunni Islam. How do they relate to each other, or how have they related to each other over the past 150 years? Are they also both today merely...

    Emergence of Bahai'ism

Sounds like some kind of semi-syncretic collection or adoption of major figures wherever any group claims a person was famous. So Rama was a manifestation (Hinduism=Avatar), Krishna was a manifestation, Zoroaster was a manifestation, so was Jesus and so was John the Baptist and so was Mani. And...
