To make an omelet, we need to break some eggs. Yes, jobs will be lost as innovation takes place. This is the price of innovation and it is not going to stop.

As we've discussed before, there needs to be a transition where those working in the fossil fuel industry will be trained to work in the new renewable energy industry. If we can do this , which IMO we must, everybody wins.

Absolutely and I know we are on the same boat in regards to paying a bit more in taxes (probably state?) to help this happen. But not everyone shares this view. :(

We are. And I don't think we would have to pay that much more in taxes if it is say a one percent sales tax as opposed to income tax. I am more a fan of a sales tax in which everyone contributes.

Also, I don't think I mentioned this, this transition does need to be gradual. I would be skeptical of a "Here is x billion dollar grant, go!" Instead, I would prefer a gradual, 5-15 year transition that is protected. Speaking a bit to what @David1967 was talking about. This would allow people the time to transition their professional lives as well.

Funny how we here can come up with what with a little tweaking here and there, could be a working model of how to do this where all our high paid politicians do is make things worse.

Do you have any suggestions to share? I am trying to find some outlets myself!
Well I've begun to get politically active. though I'm not sure what can be done at the local and county level.

I've also written to trump , my state legislature and Congressional representatives . also going to meetings and speaking in person to these people is important . @Revoltingest spending helps at the market level but he is a small fry. I'm thinking of writrimg CEO s of major cooperations to do more.

We need to speak together. So I joined curry county democrats to try to make my voice heard as a collective as well as starting a local chapter of the green party. ngo also need our support and speak for more then one.

Also how we vote.

Would you be willing to post what you wrote to the politicians? Maybe we can use that as a template? What do you think?

Another question for thought: what is the best methods to be heard? Email seems like it would be... easily ignored. Maybe a physical letter is better? Phone call maybe? (This is more on the national/state level where walking into the office might be tough.)

I did a quick google, what do you think of this one?
Climate Change Letter
Good but not good different levels need to different letters . Also personalized is good. Also some representatives need ideas on what to do and it will vary from state to state and federal level. I think this letter is great if we can mobilize a large number of people to send it with other actions likke phone calls , hand written letters and most importantly face to face contact.

Well first look up state and Congressional representatives and see where there offices are. they have many including some by you. face to face is 100% the best everything else is received by staff. that's where volume comes into play. hand written letters are best emails worst. phone calls should be used in conjunction with the others. write often and get others to write.
