50 Killed at Florida Nightclub by Muslim Man

... That POS Obama and his pathetic "address to America" never said the word Islamic terrorist once, not once, and then tries to deflect his own failures by blaming lack of "gun cuntrol" for this Muslim terrorist attack? ...

Funny how some of you folks hear the speeches.

He said this was ..."an act of terror, and of hate.

He said they would ... "follow the leads wherever they take us. ..."

He said the ... FBI was APPROPRIATELY investigating it as an ACT OF TERRORISM.

Er, no. He's a right-wing libertarian type who pals around with transphobes and racists.
He describes himself as a liberal. Perhaps to this new wave of liberals we see these days standing up for free speech is some strange 'right-wing libertarian' thing. Shame.

And buzzwords like 'racist' and 'transphobe' are nice and all but seem to be usually just used to immediately shut down and invalidate the views of someone you disagree with.

He describes himself as a "classical liberal" and he hates progressivism. "Classical liberal" is basically another term for right-wing libertarianism in America, in how it's generally used.

He appears to hang around with people like Joe Rogan and Adam Carolla. Joe Rogan has said some very nasty things about trans people and Adam Carolla has repeatedly made racist, homophobic and sexist remarks, which he refuses to apologize for.

This Rubin person just appears to be another privileged upper middle class white gay man who uses his privilege to stab less fortunate members of minorities in the back, for the appearance social inclusion among those who would normally hate him. That Milo ******* is another one, among others. They're the gay version of tokens, Uncle Toms, etc. Every group that is struggling for equality and human rights has their version of them.

Uncle Toms?! So would you say any LGBT person that say supports Trump, or is a Republican, or has right-wing views, is an Uncle Tom?

You're exemplifying wonderfully how the Left suppresses people's opinions. If a minority takes a right-leaning view they are denounced as a token and an Uncle Tom. Oh no, all minorities must conform to leftism, they aren't allowed to think independently. Who is the bigot now? Telling a minority, or anyone, they should think a certain way otherwise they are traitors to their people group does not seem very liberating or empowering at all.

Edit: removed my joke posting. It was in bad taste. Was not thinking clearly after a long day in the hot sun, full of yard work and the honey-do-list.

I detest Obama, but I heard the speech and I couldn't find anything to pick at. Sounded unusually reasonable for the man.

A lot of the time, they are. Not all the time, though. I wouldn't call Condoleezza Rice that, for example, because such things have to be looked at on an individual basis before you make judgments. (She would probably be viewed as a leftist progressive or whatever by today's right-wing!) I wouldn't call a black or gay person who is simply a fiscal conservative that, either. But when you support people who typically hate you and even surround yourself with them and pal around with them, especially without calling them out on their bigotry, that's what you are. It's usually the ones who are the most "normal" by the standards of bigots who are able to get away with it. They're usually upper middle class or otherwise have wealth, downplay the social reality of inequality and seek to assimilate into the system rather than change it.

People can think what they want. But social context does matter. There is obviously still a huge problem with racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. and it's gotten worse in recent years. The right-wing has gone even further right. It was nicer when we were just dealing with neocons, who at least tended to be more socially liberal although they are imperialist, but now the American right is becoming more and more neo-fascist as time goes on.

For the anti-Trump people, this could not have happened at a worse time. This type of event will fuel Trump's desire to stop Muslim immigrants from entering the USA. It will have a bandwagon effect. I am aware that this man was American born, but since he is Muslim, it will fuel the hatred of that label.

Is that so? It seems to me that it is further evidence of how dangerous it is to let the crazies like Trump receive much attention.

I don't have a clue but it does seem an opportunity for a militant murdering group
to capitalize on a tragedy.
"One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter."
But what "freedom" excuses murdering innocents of any group.
Obviously murdering harmless people means nothing to some.
Plenty of Christians (and Muslims, or at least Muslim authorities) certainly claim that LGBT who don't see anything wrong with being openly and actively LGBT are not innocents.

Per some religious sects, gays are not innocent.

Aw, dang!
I just saw that I essentially repeated the Luis's post.

The LGBT community is grieving, scared, outraged, and doing what we can to make sure everyone affected by the attack is helped.

We are rightfully outraged whenever we are targeted for abuse or violence. Why the LGBT outrage is glossed over in favor of wanting to hear what other people have to say first is one of the reasons this **** keeps happening.

Rubin and anyone else who would rather ignore what we have to say can go **** themselves.

It's even worse when it's a gay man saying that ****. So he has even more to be ashamed of!
