50 Killed at Florida Nightclub by Muslim Man

I detest Obama, but I heard the speech and I couldn't find anything to pick at. Sounded unusually reasonable for the man.
I say he's learned the importance of avoiding any presumptions which might come back to bite.
(Remember the Boston cop & professor fiasco where he spoke to freely too soon?)
So good for him.

It's even worse when it's a gay man saying that ****. So he has even more to be ashamed of!

You've rightfully pointed out just how the pecking order materializes according to class and wealth. Folks on the lower end are scared of brutality, hunger, sickness/sepsis, and being targeted for rape and murder regularly. It's witnessed much more often.

Those higher up are scared of not being able to bluntly "tell it like it is" without someone arguing with them in similar fashion.

And strangely, they equate the two as being similar in stress levels and quality of life.

7. ISIS is cheering the event and claiming that he was one of their's.
To take a guess, they are probably in need of a moral booster after having lost about 20-25% of their territory. I think they are beginning to realize their days are numbered.
Yeah, **** him. Does he honestly believe that no one is outraged over this? A piece of **** opened fire on a club, and it doesn't matter what labels they use or banners they wave, they are deserving of being called nothing better than a piece of ****, and rather than this divisive tactic of blaming Muslims and spreading more fear we should all just focus on what the shooter was, and that is a piece of ****.

In this case, a piece of **** with a pathological hatred of gay men who had legal access to an AR-15 assault rifle. That is the problem in one sentence. And if America doesn't address what is contained in that sentence, then nothing will change.

That's because, despite a gulf between your views and mine, your dislike of the man is based on positions and points, not gut-reaction and knee-jerk "rawr obummer bad". You also haven't used this to campaign for X candidate, unlike some other disgusting human-like worms who may or may not be present.

Of they won't, because "it's too early to talk about gun control."
And to further complicate things, there seems to be very little focus on how this isn't just an act of terrorism, but a hate crime against the LBGT community.

I tend to agree, as a gay man too. I think the target(s) were chosen because they were vulnerable. Soft targets, easy kills. That makes it somewhat more heinous, really. People out having a good time, a few drinks more than they should have had, not looking out for a killer in their midst.... I think the anti-gay thing is a smokescreen to avoid the obvious next point... it IS Islamic extremism aimed at a vulnerable target, late at night. designed to strike terror into our hearts. What I don't get is that these jokers don't understand that this only pisses us off .... What these Neanderthals (no offense to actual Neanderthals, of course) don't get is that this gives us the excuse to rampage all over hell's half acre with wanton reprisals....

Let me get this straight. 50 dead in Orlando. More than 50 others wounded. And you think this is a great time to campaign for Trump.
Isn't that just classic politics in action? Immediately after a mass shooting, and specifically an Islamic terrorist one, politicians and supporters of the left will call for more gun control, politicians and supporters of the right will rail against Islamic terrorism.

I think it is both, but doubtless the hate-crime aspect will be underplayed. I heard on the news there are still laws in Florida which discriminate against LGBT?

Yes this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^.
Liberal politics at it's BEST. Never miss an opportunity to take advantage of a tragedy.

If he had illegal access to the AR-15, what difference does that make?

If he had used a couple of handguns and a handful of extra magazines, what difference does that make?

Answer to both questions: none.

A couple of handguns would not have resulted in the 50-some dead and 50-some wounded. Not unless you are very highly trained or in a movie.

This is an awful tragedy.

I'm going to reserve my judgment until more details can be given of the incidence.

Earlier on radio, I heard a playback of a mom's tearful plea to know where her son was as he was not responding to his cell phone. This was heartbreaking to say the least.

I just want to give my respects to those that have been affected by this.

As opposed to criticizing, say, homophobia, which transcends religion and political identification and is clearly the motive in this particular case. When 50 people are murdered for the imaginary religious crime of being gay, I think it is an excellent opportunity to talk about religious homophobia and why it should be combated. I suspect many of your co-religionists would disagree of course, because this time it was a Muslim and Christians don't do those kinds of things. Except, of course, when they do.
