9% Say they intentionally have not paid back student loans

That's the thing, lots of degrees aren't making the promised money. And it's nit tye art degrees that RWers complain about (which betrays their ignorance of the fact there are many well paying jobs with employment chances thqt are greatly enhanced with an art degree).
Most degree subjects are not meant to be directly vocational anyway, they're not apprenticeships. That idea will be lost on some people of course.

A friend's son had a student loan that he
could easily have re-paid. (He's a packaging
engineer.) But Biden waived the balance due.

Since when has virtue become a negative that we should avoid "signaling"? You seem to imagine that the nation's wealth shouldn't be used to serve the nation. That only individual wealth should be used to serve the individuals that got hold of it. I disagree. Economics is systemic. No one gets anything outside that system. And yet when some people get hold of some wealth, they immediate want to keep it all for themselves. To serve themselves exclusively. As if the rest of society had nothing to do with their getting hold of it.

It wasn't the government that caused this. It was capitalism turning greed into a virtue, and using that lie to destroy unity, and economic parity, and prosperity for all just so a few greedy pricks could live and behave like untouchable kings.
I believe in being self-supporting and taking personal responsibility. Class envy and blame shifting doesn't solve people's personal problems.

In America the wealthy already pay the vast majority of Federal income taxes. The more they pay the more wistful government spends!

That's so old fashioned.
I was going to ask, I'm planning to major in dolphin phycology with a minor in paper mache history and work in my hometown in Rustburg West Virgina. Can you loan me $180,000 dollars? And I may as well say it now, you would be a greedy capitalist when you demand that I pay it back!

And we want to avoid Weimar Republik, Version 2.0.
Let's say someone who thinks as I think becomes US president.
He can declare the FED illegal and start printing dollars with "The Federal Treasury" written on it.
So that the banknotes printed by the FED (federal reserve notes) will be declared worthless.

How about that? ;)

Btw...It's Weimarer Republik. Or in English Weimar Republic.

I believe in being self-supporting and taking personal responsibility.
No one in our culture is self-supporting. Not even close to it. We all depend on each other for EVERYTHING we need to live. And as a result we are ALL RESPONSIBLE TO EACH OTHER. This myth of the "lone wolf" is nothing more than a justification for social parasitism. None of us have anything without each other making it possible.
Class envy and blame shifting doesn't solve people's personal problems.
Neither does lying about how self-supporting we are, or calling social parasitism "personal responsibility".
In America the wealthy already pay the vast majority of Federal income taxes.
I couldn't care less. They should be paying WAY WAY more than they are. The wealth of the nation belongs to the nation that generated it. And we are all generating it together.
The more they pay the more wistful government spends!
That's one of the government's jobs. The question is what and WHO are they spending it on? The people that generated the wealth? That's as it should be. Or on the their rich cronies?
“I have never understood why it is "greed" to want to keep the money you have earned but not greed to want to take somebody else's money.”
It's not. It's greed to think you are so special that you should be earning 300 times more than everyone else.

I have no interest in your capitalist propaganda. I've heard it all, already.

You are the first person I have ever met that thinks that parents shouldn't ever pay for their children's college education.
I see this fairly routinely working in higher ed. While some parents are supportive of their children going to college - and help finance it - this is not necessarily the case. Some of the students I work with are expected to fund 100% of their college education and living expenses by their parents. It's rough, especially these days.

Horizontal equity is injustice.
Because according to horizontal equity, all citizens should pay the same amount of taxes; so the ones who own hundreds of millions of dollars will pay as much as those who have an average income. An employee's income.

What can you pledge for security?

About $500 billion in federal loans were issued to businesses. The vast majority of these loans have been forgiven.

It's also unclear how much of the intended benefit the loans actually realized.
During covid lockdown the tory government's mates had millions given to them in contracts for PPE. Usually fast tracked to contract-winning in preference to other tenders and sometimes the companies weren't even set up for delivering decent quality PPE. or even PPE at all. Still we're talking the sort of nepotism where a company gets a contract for a ferry service but doesn't have any...oh, what are those things called? .. oh yes... ferries...

Just printing money & spending it without
limit is a guarantee of hyperinflation.
