does that make me like your hero? I once got a standing ovation for using the girls bathroom.
Wear it in good health.

I am not sure it will be such a good idea. I mean, there are people who don't want the opposite sex in the same room while they do their thing, even if they are in a stall. Most people think about one thing: To take care of nature calling and there are stalls, but we have to think about all people's feelings, not just a few of them. Maybe someday in the future.

Great idea. In fact, we have several at our university (single-room) and have never had a problem. They have family bathrooms for specific purposes, why not gender neutral ones?
I do not believe the article is talking about the single stall unisex bathrooms. Those you already see in the US (just not in great numbers since they are not very cost effective to build). The article was advocating turning the multi-stall and multi-urinal bathrooms into gender neutral bathrooms.

And make going to the restroom unsafe for women. How nice of them.

What does everyone here think about this idea? Would this be a good idea, or is it out of touch with reality? For example, would the majority of people even be willing to use such a bathroom (especially women)? Or is this just a idealistic fantasy that has no hope of ever being functional in today's society?

Having gender specific bathrooms as is currently the case normally in most places doesn't seem to me as a necessary or needed set up in anyway, but more like something we just got used to. I think people would have gotten used to other set ups if they were the norm, and i personally wouldn't mind a unisex bathroom anymore than i mind a gender specific one (for clarity, i mind both. 'Cause i just hate public bathrooms!).

So that's probably the main impracticality that would face an idea of a wide replacement with unisex bathrooms, besides a few smaller issues. Such change would probably need to be more gradual with introduction of unisex bathrooms being more and more common until it becomes something pretty normal for most people to use. But besides that issue of cultural resistance, i think having one bathroom for everyone seems to make more sense in concept, since having two categories isn't particularly necessary in the first place, and since it even provides a problem for a subset of people by being a simplistic categorization.

The vast majority of people think nothing of doing what is traditional to their culture or society.
