Domestic servants in Europe are Employees and have the same rights as any other employee.
When I was small my mother always employed a house maid to help her.

My Maternal Grand father. had a Cook housekeeper, a butler, a nanny, a chauffeur and two gardeners. My Paternal Grand father had a large household with a governess, butler, ladies maid footman ,housekeeper, kitchen staff, housemaids, laundry staff, gardeners, stable hands and coach men.
None were slaves all were paid, all were free to leave.
Times have changed and it has been very unusual to have a fully staffed house since the 1920's.

Servants were never treated as Sex slaves. Though some were known to be seduced by both members of families, and by house staff.

Yes employees.

Do you think i may be offensive if i say i wish such a job for your daughter ?
If you think it is offensive if wishing it for your daughter then how you see it as a normal job and to be similar to other jobs.

For me and honestly saying slavery and maids are 2 faces of one coin.

For some reason I am fascinated by the English painting of the Sultan's harems during the Ottoman rule.
The images are so beautiful and amazing I just can't help but be in awe. The other thing is not the art but the act of enslavement by the Ottoman's which was of course conquest. I understand the atrocities of slavery but at the same time I am just baffled by what slave owners would have in such ancient times.

Princesses of various lands were taken to the Sultan's palace where they all served as concubines to bare the Sultan a child. One of my favorite examples of this is Suleiman and his love of his slave girl Hurem Sultan who later became his wife.

Perhaps my love of something immoral is just stupid, I do not know. The old Ottoman idea of royal slavery just seems so romantic in a very cruel way.

There is nothing denigrating in working in domistic service.
some people far prefer to do so than work in a factory or catering.
It is not some thing people are forced to do, it is something they choose to do. Some positions can be highly paid and well respected, such as butler house keeper govrrness or nurse.
Domestic servents are covred by the same conditions of employment as every one else.

Of course some countries and societies have other values. And treat them very badly. This says more about those societies than it dose about the servants.

It is interesting that you should include that particular picture... as it was taken the illustrate the influx of Foreign prostitutes into london just prior to the london Olympics, who came to take advantage of the many away from home visitors and foreign spectators.

There is a difference between Prostitution being legal and being respected.

In the UK it is neither legal nor respected.
However it has been going on since time immemorial, both here and in all other countries including both Christian and Muslim.

In some countries and at some times, courtezans have been both legal and respected.

Of course to suggest that it is only Muslim men would be wrong. Though they have been the major perpetrators in many of the recent serious cases in many cities including the horrendous cases in Rochdale and Oxford, telford and Derby.
