An Atheist Dad Left His Kids with a Relative… Who Used the Opportunity to Proselytize the Kids

Yep, plus what kind of morality is it when they are told to hide it from the father, and to lie?

The aunt and the preacher are lacking in "morality."

We've all been missing another point where the aunt lied, and that is she told the father she was taking the girls out for ice cream, and deceiving the father as to the real intents of her taking the girls out.

What should the dad do? "His sister-in-law wanted to spend some quality time with his two daughters [ages 6 & 8] by taking them out for ice cream — why would he say no to that? So the girls went with their aunt. When they arrived, the aunt’s pastor was waiting for them…" [Source (minor use of foul language)]

What would you do, if you were the father?

I think that the aunt has some explaining to do and maybe needs to lose some privileges with the children for awhile. Like no interaction unless supervised by you, since the aunt is willing to "lie for Jesus" as it were. So much for Christian morality.
That aside, I would have a discussion with the kids about their meeting with the pastor. It will give you an opportunity to rebut the nonsense they were fed by the pastor. You need to remember, though, they will be confronted with religious dogma for all of their lives. Teach them how to think instead of what to think and they can make their own way. You may end up with a child that goes down the theistic path some day, but you will love them just as much.

But if they are going for ice cream, perhaps they are too young to grasp all of this stuff anyway.......
