An Idle Tale

Matthew 28:16-20 (NIV)

16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

John 1:40-42 (NIV)

40Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. 41The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ). 42And he brought him to Jesus.

Paul wasn't the only one. I could give you example after example.

Now, I am going to prove to you that the above reading was an interpolation. That kind of baptism in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
was introduced by Paul who used to rebaptize the Nazarenes whenever he succeeded to convert one into Christianity. Neither Jesus nor his Apostles never practised it.
The baptism, the Nazarenes disciples of Jesus practised, was the baptism of John. If you read Acts 19:1-8 you will see that at Paul's question to the disciples of the
Nazarenes if they had been baptized with the Spirit and in the name of Jesus, they answered and said that they had never even heard of it. Then, Paul would baptize
them with his peculiar form of baptism.

Ben dearest, Paul asked them if they had received the Holy Spirit since they believed. They did not know there was a Holy Spirit. Paul wasn't the one who baptized them but the Holy Spirit did the Baptism. Jesus said I go away, but I will send you the comforter (Holy Spirit, or Holy Ghost). That is the reason now for the baptism in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost....It wasn't Paul's baptism, Paul was the messenger, you know the old saying, don't shoot the messenger......;) Thank you sweetie for your attention in this matter, although I know you will tell me how wrong I am. :foot: Go easy on me, I'm so fragile.......

Jeremy it would be so dull if we all agreed. It would be nice, but it probably won't happen. I like a good argument it's stimulating and then there is always the fun of making up.....Ben is fascinating, I can't wait to see what he says next ;) Come on Jeremy you present some good arguments......Don't leave us now.

No dear, let him go. He has proved to be a bone just a little harder to chew, that's all. And I agree with you: Controversy is stimulating. And you are right again: The fun
resides in the making up. See where it has taken us? Even to the point to think about stopping by for a cookie.
