Ancient Aliens - Gods

ancient aliens 'theories' are a menace to hard working archaeologists who base their entire livelihood or resourced and funds on bringing artifacts, sites, and information to public attention. its a spit in the face of people of profession who study and practice archaeology or ancient history.

I find it disgusting that pseudo-scientists handicap the work archaeologists do in the region I live in, I also find it disgusting that people believe that garbage about this region I live in, no one here believes in space men, or ancient aliens, people here tend to respect the thousands year old traditions and the history of this region to the point that no one will accept this kind of unacademic rubbish except for the very very few, and they are mostly shunned away by the rest of the society.
You said it!
I ranted a bit in another thread about Puma Punku and how ancient astronaut theories are also insulting to ancient people's intelligence- there's this assumption ancient cultures were too stupid to accomplish such stunning feats they must have been aided by extraterrestrials or angels or time travelers or pixies or some ****.

Having imagination is fine, but there is a point were people get carried away. I mean airplanes don't fly on imagination, that took real science.
No Crap. And you obviously missed the point. But there is really no point in taking the time to explain it because you would probably have a hard time understanding that too.

These ideas are based on modern prejudice against "primitive" people. Clearly Native Americans, Egyptians and the like are simply too stupid to have figured out things "modern" people like the Romans did.

Clearly the only way for such stupid people to have accomplished so much is to have ET beam down and teach those brutes to be civilized and clever. :sarcastic

Otherwise I find the evidence to be completely lacking and most of it is ad hock guesswork and ignorance of the cultures said to show alien contact.

Amen to that. the meso Americans, the Egyptians, the Mesopotamians were obviously not capable of building pyramids, monuments, and practice fine architecture. some alien from a remote planet dreamed of by a caucasian had to do it.

This has information on it:
Detjen, J. (1995). The media's role in science education: The public is interested in news about science and the environment. BioScience, (Supplement), S58-S63.

But for whatever **** reason I can't find the full text to get the exact figure. However, reviewers of this piece noted that Detjen observed "few Americans even know that the sun is a star," as well as believe electrons are larger than atoms, didn't know what molecules are, and other absurd things.
I've seen the Detjen paper but the exact percentage is still maddeningly elusive.
Science illiteracy in the U.S. is obvious, I'm just not convinced the 55% is accurate and I'm curious how the poll was worded. But it's probably safe to assume a majority got it wrong- I mean look at that electron/atom/molecule confusion!

It is also old and outdated. Meow should update her sources imo.

I blame it on the Dead White Male European history they teach in our schools. Our schools have such a narrow and bias take on history.

Just curious did anyone actually watch this video before posting? I know a few said they did, but my guess is that the people complaining are just complaining about nothing and didn't even watch it. This video has nothing to do with Ancients getting help to build things like pyramids or buildings or even suggests that these people with ancient faiths / religions w/e are stupid. I'm having a hard time figuring out where people are coming up with the arrogant remarks.

seems to indicate that only bigots would believe in the Ancient Alien Theory...

Ancient Alien and those that write the movies and write the books do so for money!!!!!

NOT because they believe in there own BS but because of ALLOT of hard green cash.

those morons stretch and reach for every pile of BS they can get there hands on.

I believe in UFO's like most, I also think its highly probabal that most of what people see are drones or robots since the possibility of light speed being reached might be this by our beliefs anyway. I think we have been watched all along

BUT you dont go believing what some people have been stretching past imagination on film or paper

underestimating the abilities of the Ancients.

and underestimated they were.

the average man knew atrology better then most scholars of today, they knew how to do things with rock we cant do today. Thus WE imagine how they did it.

It's highly unlikely.

IMO, it's really better to just listen to the real theories that are actually based on facts, as those are far more likely.

But if you actually watched the show you would notice that they present their findings with fact and proof. They don't just leave you in the dirt... They present you the findings Archaeologists have found all over the world. Many of the people in that show do have a PH.D. It's not like they aren't somewhat intelligent people... they are just presenting more possibilities. Plenty of Scientists are just as confused about our Ancient History as anyone else... Anything is a possibility. IMO, that show provides plenty of facts... yes, there are also theories, but so what. A lot of Science and History is based off of theories too. Also... IMO, when you combine this Ancient Alien Theory with the basis of Religion, everything makes more sense. Again... it's just my opinion. I apologise if my beliefs frustrate people. :p Trust me... I get frustrated too sometimes when people don't always think the same as me... :(
