Ancient Aliens - Gods

Just curious did anyone actually watch this video before posting? I know a few said they did, but my guess is that the people complaining are just complaining about nothing and didn't even watch it. This video has nothing to do with Ancients getting help to build things like pyramids or buildings or even suggests that these people with ancient faiths / religions w/e are stupid. I'm having a hard time figuring out where people are coming up with the arrogant remarks.

I really am feeling the same thing... I think this is usually what happens though... people tend to jump to a conclusion without actually... you know... in this case watching the show and giving it a chance. It's really frustrating...

These ideas are based on modern prejudice against "primitive" people. Clearly Native Americans, Egyptians and the like are simply too stupid to have figured out things "modern" people like the Romans did.

Clearly the only way for such stupid people to have accomplished so much is to have ET beam down and teach those brutes to be civilized and clever. :sarcastic

Otherwise I find the evidence to be completely lacking and most of it is ad hock guesswork and ignorance of the cultures said to show alien contact.

Yeah even though there is PLENTY of proof that Ancient Cultures believed in God's from the STARS. I also love how in the Bible it even talks about a CHARIOT OF FIRE coming down from the skies... ugh... The book of Ezekiel guys... seriously. For those of you who are Christian, what is that Chariot? If your answer is God... well... it's not good enough. I'm sorry. The Ancient people most definitely would have worshipped someone as a God, if they came down from the skies in a blazing chariot. Look at all the cave paintings too... That was how the Ancient people communicated... through drawings... I love how some of the drawings look exactly like modern day planes and astronauts...

ancient aliens 'theories' are a menace to hard working archaeologists who base their entire livelihood or resourced and funds on bringing artifacts, sites, and information to public attention. its a spit in the face of people of profession who study and practice archaeology or ancient history.

Hard working Archaeologists who still don't have all the answers... okay. Scientific "Theories"... shall we speak of those too? :beach:

Its amazing what people are willing to believe about Hebrew biblical literature and heritage. its also a shame how much disrespect people are willing to bring in order to rape other people's tradition with nonsense.
Hebrew tradition has nothing to do with aliens or UFOS, it is about the heritage and history of the People of Israel.

Archaeologists have much more than pseudo-archaeologists. because they don't let themselves be fooled by fantasies. archaeologists know they dont have the answers, but they bring well tested information and physical evidence.
I'm always shocked by what some gullible people are willing to believe instead of picking up some of the fine archaeological literature of the past decades, none of which btw deals with space men. I find it amazing that people are in such a denial that they don't find it strange that an entire scientific community does not take these theories seriously.

Yeah, they also talk about unicorns, faeries and fire breathing dragons.

Lightning, storms, tornadoes, the sun and so on all come from the sky... what better place for fickle deities to dwell? Except for all the river, mountain, earth, ocean and so on deities.

And it's always amusing to me that some modern people can't look at a picture outside of their personal frame of reference. It can't be someone in a ceremonial mask, it must be an astronaut!:slap:

Its outstanding really. thousands of years of history of several civilizations, their architecture, their religion, their society, and a few klutzes spit on all that legacy and the real historical research into these cultures with amateur rubbish.
well I guess, no one really gets pardoned for living. there is always gonna be some klutz who decides to screw up with your history out of sheer mind numbing boredom and ignorance of your heritage.

This makes me laugh because I am so far from gullible. I know that there are theories but it doesn't mean that those theories or anyone elses are 100% false. I'm kind of taken aback that someone would even say anything about people being gullible when they merely have an opinion. I love this stuff. I've read so much on it. I've opened my mind to knew things. I have searched through Religion (switched through various beliefs and religions... I would be happy to list them all... years as well... even the searching I have done)... taken College courses on Ancient History and Religion. I'm not gullible because I have actually put forth the effort to LEARN. How is someone in denial because they want to LEARN? I learn knew things everyday... I open my mind up to every known possibility. I love Science... Ancient History... Religion. I also love the Unknown. Just because I like learning these things, it does not make me in denial or gullible. You are wrong about that... I find it very rude that someone would make an assumption like that about someone when they literally have no idea who that person is, what research they have done, etc. I realize that this is a debate topic and I am totally understanding that... but it does not make it right for anyone to judge and point fingers. I have not judged anyone. This is merely a debate. I'm trying to defend my beliefs. I've never called any of you who do not believe this gullible or in denial. It's extremely rude and uncalled for.

Yes, people have no right reinventing the heritage of other people, especially not with fantasies that belong in the movies.

Not only are we judging it, we are judging it severely, in any decent archaeology department that I know of, people who actually voice these theories have a very good chance of getting the boot. further more yes this is a debate, and its ALL about judgement. these theories mess up with our heritage and our livelihood, its stupidity and ignorance in its finest modern sense, two centuries of archaeological excavations, exploration, and research, and really, this is what some of the public is willing to believe? its a shame for years and years of hard labor.

I watched about 15-20 minutes before I gave up on it. It’s ridiculous.

First we’re presented with more Bermuda Triangle nonsense which I thought died out decades ago. The Bermuda Triangle is a manufactured mystery; it has no basis in fact. Many of the alleged disappearances have been greatly exaggerated: ships and planes have been retrieved after their accidents and others didn’t disappear under mysterious circumstances but under well known circumstances. The Bermuda Triangle area has had no statistically greater number of unusual incidents than any other open stretch of well travelled ocean. Many of the incidents that have become associated with the Triangle also occurred well outside the triangle area but have been lumped in with the mythos.

Then at about 9 minutes into the show David Childress starts spouting off nonsense about vortexes and electromagnetic energies and UFO travel. The same Childress who writes and publishes new age books on pseudo-archaeology, vimana machines, time travel and other silliness. The same Childress who holds no scientific credentials whatsoever and no relevant expertise other than being a good businessman with an established travel company. It really ****** me off that he’s often referred to as a “maverick archaeologist”. He’s not, he holds no academic credentials and has no expertise in the field. He’s a crank. And he’s responsible for writing such fascinating scientific treatise like Living Pterodactyls Haunt Our Skies.

Then the narrator ominously mentions Mexico’s La Zona Del Silencio. Girorgio Tsoukalos (director of Erich Von Daniken’s Center for Ancient Astronaut Research) makes some ridiculous claims about how compasses go nuts there and cell phones refuse to work in this mysterious zone of silence. It’s just not true, it’s another made up mystery. Cell phones and compasses work just fine there. I’ve personally received cell phone calls from the Mapimi area back in ’06 when my wife was on a photo shoot there. It’s just another made up mystery to attract tourism.

I stopped shortly after that.

This episode was about UFOs flitting around the planet on electromagnetic hot spots or slipping through black holes and such. But the series is called Ancient Astronauts for a reason- the whole basis of the series is that extraterrestrials have visited earth in the past and influenced human cultures. So yeah, the posts have all been relevant to the OP imo. The series is an insult to the hard work of trained researchers and is basically Erich Von Daniken’s nonsense on tv. What I saw of this episode was a waste of time.

I just merely have a strong opinion about this... I am sorry... I'm just trying to express how I feel about it ya know? People believe in many deities... I agree with you okay? I didn't say every single thing in this theory is right. I said I believe in a lot of what the show provides. I did my own research... it's not like I am GULLIBLE :)areyoucra) and only watched the show and believed it all spot on... this negativity hurts a bit more than I originially thought it would... It's not easy to describe what I feel through words on a forum... I'm trying...

Yeah because new finding are NEVER found... okay... sure. New things are dug up EVERYDAY. Who are you to say that those findings (which may just change our beliefs of our History) destroy the past? It may just bring life to it. New finding help us learn... they do not destroy Ancient Cultures... the finding's bring them to LIFE.

I do want to apoloigise if I am hurting anyone or making people upset. I guess it can go both ways though. I usually stay away from debates! Sorry. I sometimes tend to say the wrong things to people. I just want to make sure you all know I don't mean any harm... I shouldn't have to hide though... whether it is a debate or not... I have a voice too and I should be able to use it... I'm still going to apologise though!

Of course, and its a fine opinion, do you think we find it honorable when people corrupt our biblical passages and books? this is a heritage that we've worked to preserve for centuries.

What new finds? the pseudo-community have ZERO evidence, unlike the archaeological community, all these people have are fantasies about the hard information brought to light by the archaeological community, they are charlatans, and people are fools to listen to them instead of the archaeologists.

Debate all you want- that's the point of a forum. But do you understand where this reaction is coming from? Do you know how annoying and even offensive it is for someone who's a practicing scientist- who has worked hard to achieve their education and training- to listen to uneducated buffoons spouting off unsubstantiated nonsense about a field they know nothing about and have made little effort to understand? Can you understand how infuriating it is for a biologist to hear creationist lies from religious fanatics who have nothing to support their claims? Do you realize how frustrating it is to see ancient astronaut nonsense offered as a viable explanation despite the expertise and dedication real archaeologists apply to their professions while morons interested in selling books or tv series make unsupported claims and outright lies?

Indeed! people don't seem to realize the loaded baggage behind archaeological exploration in the last couple of centuries, it has spanned war between empires on PRICELESS artifacts, fierce competition between the best minds in the field, hours of slave work for the workers, battle between tradition and progressive ideas, all this dwarfs and make the space men theories a demented child game.

I'll just start finding random sites and stuff...

I really like this site. There are a lot of interesting finds on here, whether they were found in the past or more recently. Nothing 100% points to aliens coming to Earth, but they do list the possibilities. I'll share it with you guys cause I thought it was super cool. :) World Mysteries - Strange Artifacts - Antikythera Mechanism Now... this link goes straight to the Antikythera Mechanism but there are more artifacts on the left.

The next site is just a list of the top 10 most controversial evidence for ET life. Top 10: Controversial pieces of evidence for extraterrestrial life - space - 04 September 2006 - New Scientist

National Geographic has some stuff too... I don't think this channel has dumbed down... Maybe others think so.
National Geographic Search

Lets see... I'm trying to remember some other sites I found extremely informative and interesting...

This one is... not as amazing but still gives some more info of actual findings Has evidence of Alien Beings been found at archaeological sites?

And I do want to make it clear that by new finds, I didn't necessarily mean "alien" finds... I meant anything. Any Archaeological finds. The world is a very large place. The soil is very deep... as is the ocean... some areas are difficult to search and "dig" or swim to. I'm sure there are a ton of things below the deep ocean. You act like we have dug up every surface of the world.

I have to admit I also have a strong opinion of these issues... It's very frustrating to have people look at my ancestors and tell me how they could and couldn't figure things out... or tell me what they were "really portraying" in their art and history.

This has been an especially grievous problem with First Nations peoples... from claims that we were to stupid or primitive to build our own civilizations, starting with insistence that Europeans (or other "advanced/civilized" people) must have built everything... to now it must have been aliens. It is IMHO insulting and borderline racist, even if unintentionally.

Thanks for letting me speak my mind though! :) Despite the frustrations... it's a fantastic topic. I love learning about this stuff. I read about it all the time. I am at work though... :( I have to go. Another thing about the websites before I go... since I am at work, I can't go on a lot of sites because they are blocked. (remember I am in the military... we can't go on a lot of well... anything)... Maybe I will come back when I get home today. Later guys!

The the Antikythera Mechanism was researched by archaeologists not UFOLIGISTS, archaeologists hold no alien theories about it. archaeologists are working daily around the world for a couple of centuries now, from the most common places, like a town street to the most remote mosquito infested exotic places, and none of them believe they see space men.
Really, get with the program, we are looking for whatever physical evidence that we can, and even that is hardly enough to build some of our theories, how much less than can anyone built these sci fi ideas about space men? take a minute to think about that.
