Any musicians in the house?

So are there any musicians here on RF? If so, what instrument/s do you play, and what kind of music do you play?

I play bass and guitar mainly. I can also play drums (though nothing fancy :D ) and I like to sing on occasion. I have also recently (the last couple of days) aspired to learn to play an old trumpet I had laying around.

I play in a rock band, but I also like to play blues and I dream of some day playing bass in a small jazz group.

So, who else here plays? Id love to start a musicians thread here that we can talk about playing and share stuff.

I play guitar and a little bass and keyboards. I like to play bluesy rock and praise and worship. I don't play as much as I did when I was younger, but I'd like to get back to playing in church again one day.

Used to play lead guitar in a reggae band. Now I tend to be content with strumming on an acoustic. Also play bodhran and the frame drum.

I play classical piano. I'd like to get into jazz more as well.

Oh - and I'm trying to learn the harmonica on my own - it's not going particularly well. :D

So, has anybody played with a group before? Its very fun, and the best way to become skilled at your instrument.

I can sing and have always had a desire to sing with a band, though I've never had the pleasure to hang with musicians.

I prefer to rock out, though my voice is best suited for more mellow tunes.

Yeah I had a really tough time finding other musicians for a long while. I was lucky enough to accompany a friend to a band audition that she found on craigslist. I went because shes a girl going to a guys house she met on the internet and it was night :D . But it turns out, they liked her, but didnt feel she would fit in the band and, at some point that night I had picked up the bass and played a bit, and they liked how I sounded so I got the part :D

I was very lucky, I didnt even want to accompany her that night, I was tired and irritable, but now they are my band family and I love playing music with them. I am very thankful. :D

We are supposed to have a spot on a local talk show coming up on the 19th. We should get a copy of the recording, so I should be able to share our music on the internet soon.

That would be cool. And I wish you lots of success.

I do covers for my boyfriend and sing to my children and that's about it...

Three of us would get together and do Simon and Garfunkel stuff.
I could...in the day...hit those high notes.

Nowadays, I've developed some fingerpicking that I should record.
Too bad I can't write it down.
It would be difficult even if I knew how.
Too many subtleties.

Yeah, I want to learn how to read and write music again. I knew when I was little when I took piano, but I have all but lost it. It's amazing to think that some people can read and write music like they do English (or their native language).
