Are Atheists racist?

Amill

Apikoros
All the different lineages of humans share a common ancestor before we all share a common ancestor with the other surviving species of apes, so there's no reason to think that one race of human is more closely related to other apes or monkeys. Caucasians are just as related to that one ancestor as Africans are. It's no different than saying that a cousin is just as related to grandma as another cousin. Maybe the African lineage is the oldest, it doesn't matter, Africans today are no more closely related to the first homo sapien than Caucasians are.

I hate to get personal, but.... why do you throw rocks at us when you are not much better then what you claim us to be?
Actually, she's far worse than what she claims us to be. She's both a bigot and a hypocrite. She claims to be concerned about racism, but starts a thread attacking atheists, not racism. Throwing rocks is what she does. She doesn't give a damn about racism; she just wants an excuse to attack atheists. It's useless to try to explain her errors to her, because she doesn't care about the truth. She runs eagerly into any error, however stupid it is, however inexcusable, if she thinks it lends validity to her cramped little worldview.

Don’t worry, seeing how “human DNA is approximately 98.4% identical to that of chimpanzees” evolutionists see all of us as nothing much more than chimps.

LOL! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_evolution
They use “Brain Volume” as one of their tools in their table of Homo species.

Tell me, if you ran across one of these today:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homo_heidelbergensis
Would you throw a party that a living missing link was found? Or would you call them “human” and give them all the same rights and privilidges that everyone else enjoys?

Watch out – if you are tall, muscular, and have a big brain, you might be a Homo heidelbergensis instead of a Homo sapien – and that is another species which might not be covered under out current bill of rights!

The ironic part is that this statement can be viewed as racistic. If some people are more related to monkeys then others, does that deminish them? Does that change who they are or take away any human worth of them? Does it tell who they are?

Darwin thought so.

As the non-racist I am I couldn´t care less of how close you are related to monkeys.

I don't care either. I believe who we are stems from our Spirit, not our DNA.
(atheists don't believe we have "spirits" so who we are is what our DNA is to them.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Is there any atheist out there that will tell me they believe who people are is more than mere nature/nurture?
- If you believe that people are a product of nature/nurture then you are racist. You judge people by nature (genes skin color etc. etc.) and where they grew up.
- If you believe that there is more to people than nature/nurture – what is the third element that makes us who we are? (If you say “spirit” that means you are not atheist.)
Anyone? Anyone? Sorry, had a little Ben Stein moment there ;).
Seems to me that by applying the same "logic" as is used in the OP, all Mormons must be racist because Brigham Young was a racist....
It is what is in our heads that gives us our human value, and that gives us all our rights. Not our DNA. As I have said before, in what way is it negative to be related to monkeys? In what way does that make us less human?
Darwin thought so.
Darwin is irrelevant here. Would you please answer the question?
No, atheists do not believe there is any form of deity... spirits does not conflict with being an atheist.
Personally, though, I don´t believe in spirits. But I don´t believe that makes us any "less" then we would be if we had spirits.
Define "more" first.
be more specific - what is it "in our heads" that does not come from nature/nurture which gives us our human value?
anything that does not fall into the realm of nature or nurture.
nature - genes our parents gave us.
nurture - experiences growing up.
Saying we are nothing more than nature/nurture is racist.
It is free will and consiousness. You got those, it does not matter what specie, race or animal you are of, you automatically gain all "human" rights.
Actually you can believe in a spirit and be an atheist.
If there was a surviving lineage of homo heidelbergensis alive today(unless we're descended from a population of heidelbergensis, i dont know), and they were able to exist within our society, then I wouldn't have a problem with them. What is human? Is it strictly homo sapien? I don't care if they were called human or not, if a population of a different species of homo were found to exist, I would not have a problem with allowing them to have the same rights and privilages as us, as long as they were able to coexist with and/or within our societies. I doubt they would be given the chance, and it would make me sad if they were treated poorly. That's actually one reason I'd be against cloning a neanderthal if we are ever able to, it'd make me sad to see him/her kept somewhere, almost as if it were a pet used for studies.
So... you mean I am not shaped by nature? Well, I will remember that next time I get a ball in my face and spend the rest of the soccur/football game avoiding the ball, because it couldn´t possibly have been that I got a big ball in my face that made me terrified of getting another ball in my face... if you say so, then appearently you are a racist.
