Are Bears Mammals?

Silly - I am the only one (1) in this thread that took her point seriously. The question of bears was not the point - duh.

Ummm, yeah

The concept of "experts" is often presented that we must have Kings and Leaders and a Clergy to tell us ignorant low sheep what we are to think, feel and to believe.
If we believe as I do that every person on earth is a child of God being a Prince or Princess to the King of Kings then every single person has merit and represents an expert in their own right.

Everyone isn't equally an expert in all things, that's just ridiculous. An expert is someone who's worked hard a good part of their lifetimes researching a specific field. Intelligence is specific not general.

You don't know as much about biology or mechanics than a biologist or engineer because you've used your brain to study an old religious text.

Next time someone in your family or you get sick don't go to a doctor, go instead to a theologian - heck he'd be just as much an expert in medicine, right?

Precious metals are weighed in the troy system, which has heavier ounces, but has only 12 ounces per pound compared to the
avoirdupois system, which is the system we're more familiar with. The trick is in the context of the kind of material being weighed.
Ounce of gold > ounce of feathers
Pound of gold < pound of feathers
Pound of feathers = pound of bacon
& lastly
British billion = 1000 x American billion

As for change in use of "billion" in Britain, I am out of touch with young Brits....I hang around only with old ones.

Okay, I had a lot of answers floating around, and I went with goofy. Of course I knew a pound is a pound regardless of material, so I figured there must be more to your question. I didn't know metals are weighed on a different scale, though.

Also looked up British billion before posting, saw that it used to be different, but didn't know if that was a factor...then I was going to joke about the weight of one billion pounds of sterling silver weighing more than....yeah, right about then I lost motivation.

If the ounce and pound are being used as terms of weight (and use the same system, i.e. not switching between avoirdupois, troy, tower and apothecary) and all weighed on the same scales and at the same place then they all weigh the same. If you are switching measurement systems (e.g. Gold is usually measures in troy, or fine, ounces and feathers are not) then they weigh different amounts but I can't be bothered to look them up to see which would weigh more.

Sorry but no. Strictly speaking a British Billion is £1,000,000,000,000 (this is no longer the common usage, most commonly now a billion uses the US defintion).

Eh, I sorta wish I had given my answer more thought....my irony font didn't show up!

Just precious metals. Any 1018 steel bar stock lying around your kitchen is no different from you bacon.
What I like about the questions is how people answer based upon personality. Some suspect a trick, &
won't venture any answer for fear of being wrong. Some will get it wrong, & be adamant that they're right.
The most hateful posters are the ones who already know it all...& are right - no fun.

Oh, man....

I think I may have fallen into the "suspect a trick" category.

Wait a friggin second, I beg to differ about my 1018 steel bar stock (I don't even know what that is, but you bet yer arse I'm gonna google it now) lying around my kitchen being no different from my bacon.

The real question is why I have steel bars just hanging around my kitchen like they're cooler than me.

Tis a reference to an old Bob & Ray pitch for The Monongahela Metal Foundry - "Casting steel ingots with the housewife in mind".

Bears really get a bad rap. If you really want to know evility, try koala bears. I'm not even certain they're bears, let alone mammals.

They're not bears but they are mammals, just not placental mammals like bears. Marsupials are mammals nontheless
"Nontheless mammals"? Just what kind of crazy animal is that?

Never mind, I found a picture of one. A juvenile, to be precise.
