Whew....glad you came back for more. I wondered if I ****** you off or revolted you.
Clearly the answers to your first two questions are: feathers. It will always be feathers because it takes so many of them to equal the worth of gold. The answer to the third will require more thinking, because I'm quite hungry, and whenever I see "bacon" I lose my train of thought. This is also why none of what I've posted makes any sense and is my disclaimer to anyone annoyed by the thread.
The next question requires some simple math. The best deal is to take both the Londoner's and the Kansan's money, but the 2 billion green is worth more today.
What's the right answer?
Precious metals are weighed in the troy system, which has heavier ounces, but has only 12 ounces per pound compared to the
avoirdupois system, which is the system we're more familiar with. The trick is in the context of the kind of material being weighed.
Ounce of gold > ounce of feathers
Pound of gold < pound of feathers
Pound of feathers = pound of bacon
& lastly
British billion = 1000 x American billion
As for change in use of "billion" in Britain, I am out of touch with young Brits....I hang around only with old ones.
