Do you have any spiritual practices that may be construed as superstitious?
I thought they were all superstitious?
No Im not superstitious, at least i don't try to be.
Does that include focusing one's attention on his or her breathing (the standard meditation technique of Buddhism)?
Correct.Let's see if I have this right. You see yourself as being superstitious, but not religious.
Correct.
No, that is an exception. One of things that makes it appealing.
Old superstitions are cultural relics, so are many religious traditions. I give presents at Christmas even though I am not religious, and I love many old superstitions even though I do not believe in them.
No, well not these days, my so called spiritual practice is seeing myself and everything else as one, or God if you like, but no superstations involved.
You believe in MIRACLES.. and you aren't superstitious.. ok.. different definitions for superstitions.
Maybe. I try to avoid walking on grates in the sidewalk out of fear that I'll fall in and I'm sure there's other things too. I used to have some OCD type of behaviors when I was younger.
I don't view regular religious practices as "superstitions".What about your Catholic practices?
I don't view regular religious practices as "superstitions".
@George-ananda posted the definition earlier:Why doesn't blessing yourself with holy water qualify as a superstition?
I don't see how blessing yourself with holy water fits the definition. I don't recognize it as "irrational" or based on "fear of the unknown", "trust in magic or chance", or a "false conception of causation".
"Magic" is a meaningless term to me since it's so ill-defined.Blessing yourself with holy water sounds like a magical ritual to me.
No because the results are always there, its not something that you must achieve, because you are already that, there is nothing to make you more than what you already are, you are already all there is.Do you believe that practice will yield some kind of result?
"Magic" is a meaningless term to me since it's so ill-defined.
