Arizona Republicans Thwart Attempt to Repeal the 1864 Abortion Ban

Doubling down on stupid. I guess they intend to lose big in November.

Republican leaders in the Senate removed one bill from the day’s agenda on Wednesday, legislative aides said. In the other chamber, a Republican House member who has done a political about-face and called for striking down the law made a motion to vote on a Democratic repeal bill that has sat stalled for months. But Republican leaders quickly put the House into recess before any vote could be held.

Well, I guess the OP poster is waiting for later to provide the argument that supports the assertion being made?

It's obviously part of a growing conflict within the republican party. The hard liners want a complete ban, and they seem intent on sabotaging the more moderate republican efforts to modify and suppress anti-abortion measures.

Even Trump is trying to walk the middle now that he's seeing negative consequences in Florida and Arizona. Keri Lake has softened her position too after declaring the 1864 law was good previously (what a shock from Ms. Fraud herself). The track record thus far is any state that has a ballot innitiative to allow abortion in the state wins. It also drives people to the polls who care about this issue, and it's an issue of more moderate to liberal minds.

If Trump is to win the electoral college in November, and republicans keep the House and Senate, there's a very good chance the abortion will be banned completely in the USA. What happens after that will be more sadness and hardship (and no doubt women dying).

My apologies to the women of Arizona, but it does my heart good to see the Republicans screw up in such an epic fashion. The brain dead among them are guaranteeing a Democrat victory in November.

I think of it as purging out the stupid and replacing with the intelligent and educated applicable to all parties concerned.

Of course depending on if someone smart and educated shows up someday to run for office.

Where has a call been made for a complete ban on abortion in the US? Any names of such people?

Do you mean on a state level? That is easy. There are some insane people calling for some extreme measures within their states. That would be advocating for a complete abortion ban in that state.

Let me see if there are any advocating for a complete ban across the country. That may be harder to find.

What assertion do you believe to be unsupported and, perhaps, unwarranted?
This: "Doubling down on stupid. I guess they intend to lose big in November."

These are some unanswered or unexplained questions:
How is it stupid to being with?
Why would they lose in November?
Who would intend to lose?

What I see as likely is Trump becomes President again (too many protests votes from those who'd otherwise vote Dem) but there will be a Congressional Blue Monsoon.

Yes. That was a huge mistake. Was it right wing Kansas or Nebraska that showed Republicans how big this error is? I guess that they are rather slow learners.
If it's been working since 1864, why get rid of it?
The Constitution has been around a little longer than that. Shall we get rid of that as well?
