Ask About Islam

I've noticed that Islam, in terms of converts, tends to appeal to former fundamentalist Protestants in the West.

I would not know about such findings, however, I was a protestant and a very devout one at that. I used to attend church on Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wed night, visitation nights on Thursday, revivals, church camps and even travelled to Jamaica with my Gospel choir. I sincerely was taught that if I were to venture out and accept any other religion it would be a sin and not accepted-even as a born again Christian. But my gut feelin was always there when I finally looked up and realized I had a brain of my own and I can use it however I wanted.

Yes, I've seen this many times before, and it appears to be a trend in Protestant societies, which are plunging into atheism and nihilism.

Those who believe in the trinity as well. Not just protestants...many of those who believe in the 3 Godhead actually 4-if you are Catholic, there are many people who revert to Islam. The reason why I say "revert" is because we are all born believing in one God, it is our parents, families etc. that make us into the different faiths. I just came back to the One God.

I'm baptized Catholic but no longer agree with key Catholic doctrines. I'm closer to an Orthodox Christian, theologically. Still, I don't see many Catholics converting to Islam. It's a Prot to Islam phenomenon, as far as I can see in the West.

I see it as people coming to their senses lol : ) It's difficult when you are used to being taught something your entire life and then grow up and able to think for oneself and see from the outside looking in rather than from the inside looking out. I would not wish anyone to be stifled from thinking outside their own mind.

I wasn't raised religious. I converted to Catholicism in my late teens, of my own choice. I chose the church and everything. I actually hated Christianity beforehand. My family on either side is not Catholic. But then I rejected Catholicism later on, of my own choice. Whatever my current religion is, is due to much study and internal grappling. No one stifled my mind. I'm always thinking and using logic.

That's good to know : ) But now you can use your logic further and study the Bible and see what I mean : ) if you have any questions about Islam and the Quran, just ask : )

In Islam, one of the names of Allah is The Compassionate, The Merciful. His mercy encompasses all things.

We know that throughout the history of mankind that mankind have gone astray. Whenever there was a messenger/prophets of God, that brought God's message to the people in their time, they, the people always went astray. Throughout time, the messages were brought by continuance of messengers and prophets, yet people kept going against them and the warnings, the laws, the commandments etc. that were given in those messages. These messages, these books that the messengers were sent with, were given to us for a purpose. To acknowledge, to understand, to worship and to follow them and it was given as a guidance to help us on that journey. Imagine a creator not giving guidance! It was a blessing. For God is a merciful God He would not send his servants without proper guidance.

The final guidance to mankind is Islam. It is the finished religion of God. In the Quran, Allah says,
“And We have sent you (O Muhammad) not but as a mercy for the ‘alameen (mankind, jinn and all that exists).” 21:107

The thing that will get us into Jinnah (Heaven) is God's mercy. No one will enter it with their deeds alone, but we are to try for the most correct. No one should ask for death, for if he is doing good-he should do more than that, for if he is doing wrong-he has time to repent and Allah is the most forgiving, most merciful.

Christianity agrees that we humans do not meet the righteousness of God and cannot earn our salvation through our good works.
Christianity tells us that this is why Jesus was sent, so that He could take our sins on Himself as a substitute.
This is the reason Jesus came to earth and Muhammad denies that reason and the gospel (good news) of Jesus by denying Jesus death on the cross.
Can you see why I would think of Muhammad and his message as anti Christ because of that?

I used to be a born again Christian. I was raised in a First Baptist Family household. It was kinda taboo to look into any other religion. I just questioned my faith in the Bible is all for what I was reading did not coincide with what the preachers were saying.

I started looking into other religions. I was on a quest and I prayed to my Creator only asking Him for guidance and I continued doing that for some time. It was then I came upon Islam.

In Islam, there is evidence to support its claims is what I concluded. There are sound, proven chain of ahadith and no one has yet to come up with a better book in this entire universe than the Quran and God himself challenged anyone to do this.

In the Quran Allah says it is a book of blessings for those who understand and remember. In it you will see that there is an explanation of a set of divine laws; it mentions the way of proof based on reason, presents arguments against the misguided followers of different religions and sects, and argues against them on the basis of strong and clear proof, using very easy and concise language. Those who pretend to be clever tried to come up with proof and evidence like that, but they were not able to do so.

In the Quran Allah says,
“Do they not then consider the Quran carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradiction” an-Nisa 4:82 This was one of the verses that really made me look hard into different beliefs as well and their books.

Allah sent down guidance as He did throughout the entire time of man. People have messed around, made up, added, deleted as they see fit and claim their versions as to be from God. I was on a mission to find the truth and I believe I did.

Man made religions you will find fault in them, questions unanswered and things knowingly are not from God. When one searches sincerely and legitimately towards going to their Creator in hopes of finding the true path, Allah knows best on the best course.
We will have to go to debate section on this.
It seems to me the claim that Quran is the best composed book is more of a faith claim. One can say Shakespeare's Hamlet is the best book. How can one compare?
One will have to go into details on why you think that the claims of quran are evidence based or rational...more so than other religions.

I've studied Islam and am not interested. I almost converted at one point, but decided not to. I have a few copies of the Qur'an and Muslim prayer beads. It's Islam I find wanting.

But why don't you follow the teachings of Jesus then from the Bible? Not Paul's but Jesus...example...

Jesus says he himself cannot do nothing, but from he who had sent him.
Jesus says he has not come except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Jesus says, For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven....(how can you be better than the jews by not keeping the laws and the commandments)
Jesus says My father is greater than I...

there are many more but I wish people would tell me about what Jesus preaches instead of what preachers are telling you to believe.

Muslims believe that Jesus was one of the mightiest messengers of God. He healed the blind, the sick etc. That Jesus is coming back again. We believe and love Jesus...one cannot be a muslim without believing in Jesus.

It was Paul who made up a lot of the belief that the christians adhere to today and he wasn't even around during the time of Jesus.

Jesus taught One God just like the messengers and prophets before him...remember he claimed he did not come to change the law but to fulfil it....the message was to believe in the Almighty God.

Why is it that you think Jesus must die for you? He didn't claim to be God in the Bible.

I am not here to convert anyone. The muslim beads are not a part of Islam. They were an innovation. Anything that was innovated after Mohammad pbuh in Islam is rejected.

So you are a Salafi. Sorry not sorry, but I like prayer beads. I still have my rosary beads and an Orthodox prayer rope (given to me by a friend), and I'm not giving them up. Islam is much too puritanical for me. Again, the Protestant similarity shows itself.

It's not on me to say whether you accept them or not. I am just telling you what is in Islam. Puritanical is not a good word to use for Islam..it is a genuine way of life that is good and will take you closer to your Creator and your place in the hereafter.

People take the easy way out almost any chance they get. Do you not think you are tested in this life? That you are to take it easy and say that God is all love? Who are we to put ourselves above God's laws and commandments? People say, Jesus died for me so I can sin as much as I like and still be forgiven..are people so privileged that you claim God needs to die for them?... It's like it's just so strict yet look at all the problems in the world...then they have the nerve to blame things on God for not helping them. It just never seems enough..

Why do you think Islam put to death the Bab and then banish Baha'u'llah?

Regards Tony

Because Islam was already completed and it is known that no prophets were to come after Mohammad pbuh and they were innovators and that is a serious crime. Other than that, I am not too caught up on the Islamic History about wars...just vaguely can give my words of what I know to them.

Islam was sent as a mercy for mankind. Submission to the only one God, the Creator of the universe, the only one worthy of worship. Our duty upon this earth is to worship Him although we do not see Him, but we know He sees us.

If you have any questions regarding Islam, send a post here or in private and I will try to get back to you as soon as I am available.

Thank you,

MyM

"although we do not see Him [God], but we know He sees us."

Santa has a "naughty and nice" list (so does the CIA, but they use illegal electronic surveilance of US citizens...Google Eric Snowden for more info). Jews use yentas (Get Smart (TV) joked that it stands for Your Espionage Network, Tel Aviv). Santa's internet search was cancelled by parental controls (all he did was Google "naughty or nice)."

Archie Bunker often pointed to God, but didn't want God to see it, so he put his hand over his finger. Presumably, God can see through hands.

Some religions are afraid to write the name of God, so they write G_d. I wonder why they fear their own God, or why their God would be offended to be called by name? Surely God can figure out what is meant by G_d?

Forgiveness is inherent in most religions. It allows people to commit horrible sins (literally getting away with murder). This is why the Mafia still kills and still attends the Catholic church. The Catholic church believes that they don't want to oppress the Mafia or they won't attend, then they won't have any control at all. Frankly, I think that they should control the Mafia.

God sees all and knows all, and we can't disguise or lie about anything. Churches, on the other hand, don't seem to understand.

I've noticed that Islam, in terms of converts, tends to appeal to former fundamentalist Protestants in the West.

Muhammad Ali (former heavyweight boxer) asserted that Islam is a peaceful religion (not wanting to be punched out, I let that stand). 911 tarnished the reputation of Islamics a bit more. It is odd that American Protestants now seek to join Islam.

The US was attacked because of propaganda.

Many Islamics have propaganda against Israel. I wonder what effect this propaganda will have on Middle Eastern terrorism?

How is Islam a mercy for mankind?

US reporters ended their suffering by a "short sharp shock by a cheap and chippy chopper on a big black block." (by Gilbert and Sullivan....Mikado).

Not everyone has the same definition of mercy, nor same conception of God's commandments. Disaster might ensue.
