Tommorow is for many a time to celebrate Jesuses birthday my quetion is,what do you do on christmas day if you are an athiest.
And if you are an athiest and your partner is a christian and wants to celebrate it do you just go along with it to keep the peace.

Best wishes for the festive season i am going to PARTY big time.

You know, I'm a Christian, and Christmas has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus to me. It's not a religious holiday for my family, either. The reason we celebrate Christmas is to be together and get cool presents. :D

Done here.
I find it hard to believe an atheist would have a Christian as a partner thats like oil and water
I do.

I celebrate Christmas by spending time with friends and family, eating, exchanging gifts, pretty much the usual activities. I don't go to church, but neither do most of the Christians I know.

I'm not an athiest, but I'm not a christian either...

But to me Christmas is a time to get together with friends and family and celebrate the fact that they share your life with you.

Christmas was a pagan holiday co-opted by CHristianity, it has essentially become a secular holiday observed by religious and non-religious alike.

Some 15-20 yrs ago, I was at the local Library manning my shift at a Christmas Festival of my community, I opened a book and was so surprised when I read two Pagan Folks speaking about the holiday, complaining about the Christians taking over their holiday. At that time I was "dumb as dirt" about the truth of the statement!

Yeah, I know! Off Topic.

You can have your thread back.

I'm a Christian and I've never celebrated Christmas as a religious holiday. For me, it's always been a day similar to Thanksgiving in sentiment (getting together with family, etc) except we get presents! And decorate a really pretty tree :)

actually it isn't about Jesus's birthday... that was likely a springtime event. :D

It does coincide closely with a Cherokee (and other First Nations) holiday. So really Christmas is just about having a day off to celebrate my holiday.

Interesting, could you explain to me one thing, how do you consider yourself being a Christian, if Christmas is'nt about Christ.

I celebrate time with my family, exchange a few gifts and watch my nephew have fun.

Eat a lot of food as well. In other words, the Christmas tradition.

Wolf, did you know there is a rumor going around that you are Hebrew?
And really the birth of the Messiah was at the feast of Tabernacles, like September.
Cherokee, the Principal People and the Hebrew the Chosen People, both have an oral tradition.
I have read that the Cherokee carry a Livitical DNA! Maybe you are of the Preisthood and don't know it.

We do not know the exact date that jesus died. Everyone in this world just thought of a big celebration. They created a Santa for Christmas, a bunny for easter and a tooth fairy. So, in all we are lying to our children making them believe what is not true. We are followers....
