So, because I disagree with many things, I should leave? That is not American.

It's the way you disagree with these things. Your criticism is nowhere near constructive; it's straight up condemning. I don't see you suggesting ideas as to how to change anything.

Thank you for making this post, and for making it in this thread.

Your stance is the same as saying: They wouldn't be talking that **** if they lived in a slum in North Korea (or Somalia, Syria, Uzbekistan, or other nation recognized for its heavy-handed oppression)... America would be heaven then. Let 'em be imprisoned or watch their families dragged off because they spoke out and then they'll love the US no matter what they do.

Truth is, all Americans get the same rights, such as the freedom of speech, the freedom to protest, the freedom to address the government, the freedom to air their grievances, and the freedom to petition for change. And just about all of us want change; very few are happy with the status quo and want everything to continue just as it is now. Just because other places are worse doesn't mean we can't (or shouldn't) improve.

From where I sit, we're all complaining. Republicans, Democrats, Greens, Libertarians....
"Love it or leave it" would leave the US a very empty place. I'd say its better that we work towards fixing what we see as being wrong, even if we don't all agree on what that might be.

If change was at all mentioned, I wouldn't have said anything. The statement wasn't "America needs to change"; it was just about how terrible we are. I agree there are some things that need changing, but this is still the greatest country in the world. If it came down to "love it or leave it" I'd stay right where I am.

Well for a country that is supposed to be a beacon of light and protector of human rights, I have the to condemn what I see as hypocrisy.

I have more right than any foreigner and it is my country, my birthplace, y government, and our image.

Oh, and it is an American right to freely condemn what you feel is wrong ;) Maybe it is you who should leave. I hear Russia is pretty heavy handed against criticism.

I'm good right where I am. I'm not denying your right to condemn anything, just remember that the same people you're condemning give you that right.

We The People.... That is all that needs to be said! I see and respect all of your opinions. Yet, as an American of current times with ties to "pre-American" ties: WE MUST STAND NOW! To stand against our intrusion upon other and upon the denial of OUR RIGHTS given in the CONSTITUTION!

I do not force my opinion upon others! Nor should the USA do so...
The USA government means to silence me! I will not stand for such a thing! WE HAVE RIGHTS!

This post is not about HATE!!!!!!!!!!!! Please don't hate Americans, we ARE NOT our government! For those of you Americans who believe in YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS (like the FREEDOM OF RELIGION): Stand up! Stand with me! This is all wrong! The VOTE was wrong and against the government for/of/by the PEOPLE!

Is that right? Who exactly gave me such right?

The government of the country you live in. Not every country guarantees free speech, you know. Before you say it to be obnoxious, there's obviously no invisible force stopping you from saying whatever the hell you want to where and when you want to say it. It's just that in some places that will get you into a lot of trouble, and this isn't one of those places.

Well at first I was with you..but then the repeated double, triple, quadruple and quintuple posts in a row that basically repeates the message has gotten me suspcious.

As an American, telling another American that he should shut up or leave, it is sad you seem to not know our history.

The current government does not grant us the right to condemn. Nor does it grant us any rights that we have. These rights were fortified and guaranteed to us with the creation of the constitution and bill of rights ;)

Don't be insulting. I am not in elementary school. As you can see above, I graduated ;)

This thread is just a clear reminder of, while reinforcing, my desire to leave this country as soon as possible.

I know the Bill of Rights gave us the right to free speech; believe it or not I go to school too; I'm actually a history major until I can go to law school. That doesn't mean the current government doesn't enforce the Constitution (though some people would say otherwise). While they didn't originally give us the right (which I never said but you seem to be implying I did), they definitely protect our right to keep it.

You're American?! The condemning tone you use whenever you're talking about the US made me figure you for a foreigner. You know nobody's forcing you to live here though, right? If this country's so terrible you can go anywhere else and see if it's everything you dreamed it would be.
Myself, I am going to eventually leave. If I ever have my own family, I'd rather them live in a society where science is not viewed with suspicion and is viewed as a religion, where working your problems with others out means diplomatically talking your problems out instead of using your fist, where violence isn't as acceptable, and where if I have any kids I won't have to worry as much about them getting shot at school. And then there is also the issue of just how corrupt our government is. It's sickening to even be aware of just a handful of all the dirty business our government has done, and still does, both abroad and domestic. No government is perfect, but not too many nations conquer other nations and establish puppet regimes in the name of corporate interests.
