I just took the test over again, and being that Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants came up before Taoism, proves the quiz is false. Neo-pagan is first, which is quite accurate, but I suppose they are judging from religious taoism, and not the philosophy. But taoist and pagan should be interchangeable.

I thought it time for me to take this again.

My results from a year ago:
1. Unitarian Universalism (100%)
2. Neo-Pagan (97%)
3. New Age (93%)
4. Liberal Quakers (89%)
5. Mahayana Buddhism (86%)
6. Hinduism (74%)
7. Theravada Buddhism (73%)
8. New Thought (71%)
9. Reform Judaism (67%)
10. Taoism (66%)

And today:
1. Unitarian Universalism (100%)
2. Theravada Buddhism (91%)
3. Liberal Quakers (85%)
4. Mahayana Buddhism (85%)
5. Neo-Pagan (74%)
6. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (73%)
7. Taoism (72%)
8. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (64%)
9. New Age (64%)
10. Secular Humanism (63%)

A little different.... expect the top spot. :D

The Devil's Advocate
I'm 100% UU, which isn't hard to do
since not much would disqualify someone from being UU. :p

98% liberal quaker
97% Mahayana buddhist
96% neo-Pagan

Don't know much about Quakers except the pacifism and the quiet religious services. I probably lost 3% in Mahayana because I'm just not sure about the whole rebirth thing. (I don't know what happens after death and I don't spend much time worrying about it.)

The thing that most perturbs me is why I would score lower as Catholic and Eastern Orthodox (the bottom two!) than I would as Scientologist or Mormon or mainstream Protestant. I realize that my rejection of church authority would cause me to lose major points there, but my experience is that I agree a lot more with them than the others.
:(

It would be interesting to see the algorithm underlying the Belief-o-matic.

I could have sworn I was Hindu....

I'm sure this will come as a shock to plenty of people:

1. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (100%) 2. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (97%) 3. Jehovah's Witness (89%) 4. Bahá'í Faith (87%) 5. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (87%) 6. Eastern Orthodox (84%) 7. Orthodox Judaism (84%) 8. Roman Catholic (84%) 9. Orthodox Quaker (75%) 10. Seventh Day Adventist (75%) 11. Islam (71%) 12. Liberal Quakers (57%) 13. Sikhism (57%) 14. Reform Judaism (54%) 15. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (52%) 16. Hinduism (50%) 17. Jainism (50%) 18. Unitarian Universalism (47%) 19. Mahayana Buddhism (39%) 20. Theravada Buddhism (37%) 21. Neo-Pagan (33%) 22. New Thought (33%) 23. New Age (28%) 24. Scientology (23%) 25. Nontheist (23%) 26. Secular Humanism (20%) 27. Taoism (18%)

I'm also interested in the algorithm, especially how it handles philosophies that can be overlaid on other belief systems. Believe it or not, I've often thought of myself as a Taoism Mormon, but the Belief-o-Matic appears to disagree.

Not your average Mormon
I've taken this test on several occasions, and strangely enough, the results are always a little bit different. I guess I'm just wishy-washy or something. It must depend on my mood. It's also kind of hard to not pick the answers that you know are supposed to fit your belief system. As a Latter-day Saints, I always score 100% LDS, but the rest of the results are slightly different each time. I've always been kind of intrigued by how high I generally score on the Baha' i Faith scale.

yeah, i think the results do depend on mood.... i've gotten everything from Neo-Pagan to UU to Mahayana Buddhist to Quaker as the number one result. human spirituality is indeed a fluid thing!
