What about 'Stargate' ? I loved that; but they onlt ever seemed to make two series, and it became 'predictable'.:)

I have a friend that really liked it, but when I tried watching it a while back, it didn't mesh well with the movie, so I lost interest :).

Had to go War of the Worlds.... it is the origional alien invasion tale after all.
Few sci-fi stories can compair to the style and the portrayal of doom, survival and ultimate salvation of humanity that H.G.Wells penned.

I like the others as well mind you, but for pure creativity and presentation I gotta' go with War :D

I will say that you obviously missed some important Sci-fi works...

Dr.Who, the longest continuing Sci-fi show in history! Returning soon to a TV near you! (though not soon enough for those of us stuck in the USA)

Red Dwarf, I mean come on... best sci-fi comedy easily! ;)

Battle Star Galactica: definatly a ground breaking show if for no other reason then for the effects.

V: Also ground breaking effects wise and with a great tale of Facism/corruption and invasion to boot.

You can keep you phasers set to 'shake and bake', I'll stick with my sonic screwdriver :p

Ah, now that is an extensive list. I almost would pick WotW, but Star Trek has Kirk, Spock, and Bones for me :p. I will never forget that opening in WotW, though. It has a permanent place on my bookshelf.

Oh, Data was my favorite in TNG (and my nickname in college, though I almost got Spock). Next up on my list, though, was Q. I really got a hoot out of him. Best quote from him, "Oh Riker, you're so stolid! You weren't like that before the beard."

I think you mean "7 of 9" in Voyager :). That's far from my favorite ST. In fact, I never finished the series, but it did have some good ones when I did watch :).

Q was alright. He kind of annoyed me though. And we can't forget La Forge. That new video camera being hardwired into the brain reminds me of Geordi.

I'd forgotten about 'Q'; I know what you mean about annoying you; he was so 'cocky'; I liked Pickard though.:)

It's coming. Boy, I'd hate to try and sneak up on Geordi :p.

I voted Star Trek.:D It was my first sci-fi 'love', and many of the gadgets that were 'space age' are becoming reality: doors that open automatically, communicators-cell phones, Uhura's ear piece-bluetooth, and I'm sure they are working on transporters and warp drive.:p

There are no other Babylon 5 lovers out there??? I grew up with that show! It was so long ago that I watched it that I can barely remember the storyline or the cruddy lines but I loved every minute of it!

oh and Michel, isn't Stargate on its 4th series now AND there is a spin off program in the form of Stargate: Atlantis.

Engyo

Prince of Dorkness!
David Brin's Uplift Universe has my vote; although I also love Larry Niven's known space, with the Ringworld. Kzinti, puppeteers, protectors............

But the uplifted chims and dolphins working with humans (David Brin) are the absolute best.

Halcyon

Lord of the Badgers
How am i the only person to have voted for Dune???

The plot is so deep and the characters so rich, plus there's giant man-eating worms!

Muad'dib! Muad'dib! Muad'dib!

Nope I'm afraid not. I'm not even sure if it is showing over here yet because I only found out about it by reading episode spoilers from SFX and they get their preview tapes from American TV.

Yay for Babylon 5
