I have 2 old Panasonics, yes, they did make bikes.... well I had two Panasonics.... a 10 speed and a Mountain bike...... my oldest is off to college next year and he decided my mountain bike is now his.... which is ok.... it was my dad's and I decided it was mine years ago..... I now only have the 10 speed, which was originally mine....25, 30 years ago.... and I hate the seats on those things

I'm amazed at the number of gears some bikes have now. I can remember the days when 10 gears seemed really excessive!

What about recumbent bikes? They were trying to compete with mountain bikes here with those, but it never seriously caught on.

I'm personally not too fond of bicycles. I'm not really that good at them (monkey bars and swings also took me a long time to figure out), and I tend to be so tense on them it's not fun riding one.
But, with that said, my bike is just a bike. I have no idea what brand it is, I've never really counted the gears on it, and if my memory is correct it actually belonged to this girl who used to live down the road many years ago, who for whatever reason just left her bike. It was either hers, or my brothers. But, anyways, to me it's just a bike.

Yes it is, and now that I think of it, I think the Mountain bike might be a 12 speed... and that is still nothing compared to today

I think I've seen Angletech offer a 40something speed bike (recumbent....which can use the greater range).
I'll bet a bunch were redundant (multi-gear hub combined with derailleurs).
