Do you think there has never been one?How would you feel if a gay pope was elected?

I'm not following here. Are you saying a virgin cannot be gay?I am not sure about this but can a non-virgin become pope? Or if they are suppose to be lifelong celebates? Either way if he said he was gay after become elected pop, I think that the church would explode and it would lose power.

I think if the non-catholic population overthrew the vatican, the crazies would still figure out a way to resurrect it. The irony.
I don't think it is required that a Pope be a virgin, it is only required that he be celibate. (But that certainly does not mean they all have been).I am asking can an open non-vigin become pope?
If he openly said he was gay after getting elected it's all bad for the church.
But I hope pope francis come out of the closet soon.
I'm not sure if you have to had been celebate all your life or not, but before one became a cardinal or pope or priest, they went to confession before right?I am asking can an open non-vigin become pope?

The church does not say any person is above sinning right?
Good luck with that.If that's the case, I might try out to be the pope!
Good luck with that.
Seriously, a person could be a virgin and secretly be gay. They could become pope and then come out of the closet. If they have remained celebate, would that have been a sin or would they be in trouble with the church?
There have been gay and bisexual Popes before. They weren't celibate, either. Some Popes were having illegitimate children.
Several modern historians[9][10] have concluded that Leo was homosexual. Pierre Bayle writing later in 1697 observed, "Nothing contributed more to his elevation to the papacy, than the wounds he had earlier received in Venerean combat" implying an anal fistula Leo had allegedly developed at he time of the conclave which elected him pope was a result of sexual activity...
Accounts about the homosexual liaisons of Julius's successor, Leo X (Giovanni de' Medici, 1474-1521; reigned 1513-21), are recorded in a variety of different types of contemporary sources, and they were repeated in historical accounts of the papacy published in the later sixteenth century. Having received an outstanding humanistic education, he was appointed Cardinal in 1492 by Innocent VIII. Beginning in 1508, he served Julius II as papal legate; in that capacity, he arranged for papal troops to invade Florence in order to secure the return of the Medici, who had been exiled from the city in 1497.
Unanimously elected Pope, Leo focused his energies upon the patronage of the arts and sciences. He established Greek colleges in Rome and Florence, promoted the study of Hebrew and Arabic writings, and gave strong support to printing. He funded extensive archaeological excavations, which uncovered the monumental antique statue of the river-god Nile (Vatican Museums) and other significant works, and he ordered the restoration of several important Early Christian churches, including Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome.
To give the city of Rome a more dignified appearance, Leo widened the streets and restored several public squares, including the Piazza del Popolo. In Florence, he commissioned Michelangelo to design a new façade for San Lorenzo (project design, 1516-19; never realized) and to undertake one of his most significant projects--the building and decoration of the New Sacristy of San Lorenzo, including Medici family tombs (1519-34).
Why doesn't god guide them?
It would certainly show a diversity, wouldn't it?
It may inspire women to become a pope as well, along with other minorities. But soon enough, I wouldn't be surprised if the title of pope will be taken away once abused to a certain degree.
A woman pope?
They can't even be priests and you think there could be a woman pope?
Ha, It'll never, ever, ever happen.

When I was a little boy, everybody said that we would never have a black or female president in America...
I think the world will be better with more women as spiritual and political leaders...even positions where they are just the face of power but not necessarily calling the shots are still important.
Things going full circle.
Is there a rule that the keys to heaven can never be passed to a woman?
