I haven't seen evidence of that, but even if it were true, so what? Marxist thought itself is far from uniform or monolithic, and in that respect, it's just like any other ideology (or group of ideologies) with pros and cons.

I would mostly agree with you in the case of, say, Marxism-Leninism or Marxism-Stalinism, but Marxist thought is far bigger and more diverse than just those two.

Most Marxists and Marxist-leaning people I've talked to don't lean toward the more authoritarian flavors either.
