Brrrrrrrrr!!! Americans - how cold is it where you are?

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
(If you've got pictures, post them!)

Egads, I'm in Texas and it's 16 degress Farenheit right now. Sheeeeze!

With the windchill factored in, it feels like 5 degrees. I know some people are a lot colder this morning, but us Southerners just aren't used to this kind of cold.

We're forecast to be below freezing continually for the next three days, and a chance of snow on Friday. It snowed yesterday here and we have some flurries this morning, but no accumulation.

I guess we should have scheduled the Superbowl for someplace warmer...like Pittsburg...

I feel so sorry for my dogs (who will spend the day shivering in their doghouse full of hay), that I actually COOKED a hot breakfast for them this morning!

FAAAHHH RIGIN COLD! We had several inches yesterday( from what we were advised was a minor storm) and the big one was today. The storm system is something like 2000 miles long. It really isn't as bad as I thought it would be but I closed the store today anyway. I don't like to have my customers or employees risk driving in this kind of mess.
But yeah, it's a double socks, double pants double shirts day with a snuggie on the side.
Ima make some nice seafood chowder and keep cycling the kids hats n gloves in the dryer. My little boy hopes he'll have a good $hoveling day!

Here in Norfolk it's currently 64° with a projected high of 68°. Nothing but a bit of rain, but everything is still open.

I have one daughter who lives in Hampton, VA and it feels like spring there. I have another daughter who lives in Colorado Springs and the windchill there is 40 BELOW freezing!

Yesterday she and her kids boiled water and then went to the door and threw it outside. It was frozen before it hit the ground.

They've closed the schools there - not because of snow, but because it's so cold that they don't want anyone risking getting out in it.

GAK!

Colorado Springs, just a dusting of snow, but currently -22F. Wind chill of -35F.

First time I have ever heard of them closing the entire school district for temperature rather than snow.

How is it that Texas is always colder than Michigan? It's a balmy 22F & snowing here, with a light wind.

Here in the Sunny Southwest (Albuquerque) it's currently -15 degrees (4F), blustery, but at least it's stopped snowing for now. Supposed to go down to -25 tonight.
I'm having to replenish the street cat's frozen water every few hours, at my cat feeder.

Ok got home for lunch and to give my dogs a break from the cold. I cooked them a hot breakfast this morning, filled their doghouse with hay, and put a bucket of hot water outside for them. The water has iced over.

It's up to 24 here now. Practically a heat wave.

And SNOW is scheduled for here Friday - this will be the second accumulation since Christmas. For east Texas, this is practically unheard of!

My stepson just told me that he thinks the world will end in 2012!
