Ecuadoran, actually. Not an American. There is no other country on the planet that calls its citizens "Americans." Brazilians. Chileans. And so on. No Americans except in America. But you're convinced, so there's no point in arguing further.
THey are mutually inclusive. You cant be Ecuadorian without being American.

That's nice.
And that´s the point.

I think its a good idea to reduce nationalism so that you become more inclusive, and if they wanted to do it there and they voted to do it there, and such won the voting, then that´s good for there.

Its a country in the continent of America, America, which is divided in north, central and south america :) . Hopefully, they taught you this in geography, yes?

Americas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

No desire to copyright the concept. I actually love several things of the US and prefer much of its ideologies than predominant in Ecuador. Its nationalism is NOT one of those things though.

About owning the concept, there is no need, I am merely informing you about it. to which you display great territoriality with the word "american". You want to pretend only US citizen are american, although I assume you do know a nigerian is an african, someone from egypt is an african, etc.

This knowledge escapes you when it comes to America though. this comes from deep rooted nationalism, which is from there the territoriality comes from.

You are a citizen of the US, of course you are american.

About what you do, its up to you. I am talking as a general society flaw.
You can continue to blither and I'll continue to roll my eyes at you.

There are Americans, who are so selfishly yearning for a sense of self-importance and attention, they take freedom for granted. They join the first gang that keeps praising them for parroting a party line. That is more important to them than their own ability and liberty to be an individual.

This is not about inclusionism. It is about joining a gang.

This is about taking DOWN one flag that represents freedom of speech, and as surely as "hate speech" is an arm of suffocating free speech, soon putting UP another flag that represents tyranny over speech.

In "inbetween" stage of freedom and tyranny is called "inclusionism". It means join the gang.

What you say is not true of all Americans.

Why is it always Americans who are told to apologize for being American (especially by other Americans)? I am an American by birth and choice. I appreciate my freedoms. I am responsible with my freedoms. I value personal liberty and the rights and responsibilities of the individual.

Therefore, what you say is not true of all Americans, even if I'm the only exception (which I am not).

Why should I continue to discuss this with you when you won't listen?
Do as you will.

Is a Nigerian african?

You treat "american" differently.

You have not said why. What you have done, is called me and a bunch of strangers (to me) ignorants because they dont agree with you, assume I am anti "american" (by which you mean US) when I am not (either).

The only reason I keep up the discussion is because I am fairly open to you having some sort of point behind all the assumptions and offenses. Maybe even a reasonable one.

When referring to inhabitants of continents, people from the America(s) (there is no continent called "America" in common usage), they're referred to as North Americans, Central Americans and South Americans. You go ahead and call yourself an American and unnecessarily confuse the conversation. But that's not changing my mind at all. Are you ashamed of being from Ecuador? That's what it's sounding like.

You're choosing to be offended over an issue of semantics. You are splitting hairs because you are anti-American (by which I mean American, not North American, Central American, or South American). You are not open at all. You want to pick a fight because you find the United States of America offensive. At which point I would ask what you have against the United States. You and ShivaFan.

Actually there is.You never visited my link then. America is the name of the continent, which is divided in three too.

I am not ashamed about being an Ecuadorian, I dont hide it either. The reason you know it is because I say it. I am not nationalistic though.

The reason its common ussage is because thats the way you use it, because it is an ego thing. It has been for long. Its the reason most of you with which I ve dealt with react so strongly against non US citizens stating their continent of origin.

Again, I love several things of US way of be, like secular country, but this is not the only area of silliness thats like that: you got your feet and inches and such while everyone else uses the metric system. You decided nobody else was an american, so now they are not.

I am not offended. I dont despise my continent in any way either. I dismiss your assumptions, most of my consumes come from US, most series I love have their setting as US, role games I gm happen in US.

If you decided I am against America and against the US, feel free to make your own assumptions as to why too. If you are making up my mind for yourself, to the very least finish the job :p

So you're going to whine about me calling myself an American, then say you're not offended? I'm over it. This thread has gotten way off track anyways.
