I think that's probably why people are against sexual orientation. There is lack of education. Seriously, especially among older folk. My father made me upset because he compared me to "those people" and thought all we want to do is have sex-sex-sex. Shrugs.
Sexual orientation means (def) a person's identity, their sense of self, in relation to their sexual attraction. So, assuming you are straight, your identity in reference to attraction would be with a person of the opposite sex. So your attraction spiritual, physical, and mental attractions binds you with a woman (assuming you're a man) like a marriage.
It's a biological and in some religions spiritual connection one has with someone who has opposite genitalia and chromosomes. While you can control behavior (say sex) you can't control your attraction. This is heterosexuality. It's a medical definition of the term.
For exanple, the prefix Homo- (say homograph) is two words that are spelled the
same but not pronounced the same. Fan vs fan for example. (English grammar)
Hetero- opposite and bi-two and tri-three (say trinity
) and so forth.
Ones sexuality referring to their sexual orientation is not black and white as once assumed. It's a gradiant because that's the human make up from hair to skin color. Sexuality is no different.
Heterosexuality (SO of opposite sex)
Homosexuality (SO same sex)
Bisexuality (SO of both sexes)
They do not refer to sex as in ones actions. You can have sex with the same sex as someone whose gay can have with the opposite. So it's not a sex thing.
Sex (not attraction) with two people isn't bisexuality. It has nothing to do with ones attraction. While I don't knoe the technical term, scriptural that would be sexual promisquity. But, no, that's medically incorrect. I get you are playing with words (I hope????) But if not, it's wrong.
Just correcting you on the words. Many people don't understand sexual orientation as a personal thing unless it has something to do with themselves. That's where bias and decrimination comes in.
But, yeah, that's the long explanation. It's an insult to many bisexual people but RF i guess you can slide.
