Can't religion and evolution be merged as one?

Well, if Santa was real then millions would see him yearly, and he would be picked up by air control tower radars throughout the world.
And what makes you think Santa isn’t picked up on radar?

The fact is that NORAD has been using radar to detect and track Santa many years now (since 1955). If that is not evidence of Santa I don’t know what is.

Matter creation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There is science saying that matter can be created.

Unless you are simply talky about matter/energy conversion, I do not see how matter can be either created or destroyed.

I do not generally agree with Sniper, and I find his initial post fallacious on many other levels, however, If he is saying that God formed matter out of the energy available (void, without form) it is somewhat plausible in a Godidit type of thinking.

Matter can be created in terms of the formation of the objects that Sniper was talking about. The Big Bang theory says that there was no matter at the start of the universe which is an example of science saying that matter can be created, which is where Sniper was wrong.

From your link...
Thus, matter can be created out of two photons.

This is not creation ex nihilo, it is energy/matter conversion.

Again, energy/matter conversion, which Sniper was advocating, not creation ex nihilo, which would be creation of matter from nothing.

Nor can matter be technically destroyed, only converted.

I believe this is what Sniper meant when he said...

Science does not agree that matter (the earth, stars, man or any other tangible thing) either be created (As stated in the beginning words of the Bible) or destroyed. In other words, you can’t make something from nothing. I believe, however that God “made” the earth as we know it from what was already present,

So in this instance, lets imagine that God made the big bang or whatever made the universe. Then from then on with Gods help we evolutionism into what we are now?

No God did not made the Big Bang, He made the Big Banging, Which is now also Big Banging currently,

Who knows that in future this earth is perparing to bang or split into pieces again, and there are some more tiny mankinds ready to take place on that pieces which they will as their mother earth.

This is the difference science call it Big Bang, & spiritual science call it Big Banging,
Science does not know that every action made by science is also the part of Big Banging which is currently happening and that supernaturel power is only playing inside everybody this does not matter Religious or Ireligious.

How would you do that? Remember, Danmac, this is your thing. You said you could test faith. I still have no idea what you may have meant. Could you give us a concrete example in plain English? Thanks.

BBT doesn't assert a start from nothing at all, energy and matter are really the same thing as others have pointed out.

Don't you think splitting hairs over the shape of the planet is abit much? The Earth may not be a 100% perfect sphere, but close enough that is it really worth zeroing it out as a flaw? Especially when an explanation of how the fossil record does support ToE, and that we have plenty of documented cases of it in the process in modern time would have been more productive than picking out a very minor error?

My thinking, exactly. But hey, they have to do something to bend the argument away from the facts.

What, you think?!?! :D

Kidding. I get lippy at times, but this evolutionist is not closed-minded. I have some links in the "image of evolution" thread you may wanna scope. New ammunition for new battles. :fight: ;)

Wikipedia is getting better all the time. I used to be wary, and send people to the Archive http://arxiv.org but did you ever try to read some of the stuff outta that place? :D

I say, in the beginning, there was uncertainty. Some things never change. ;)

I like wiki but half the time im using it to get exact statements on which I already know the answer.

If I dont and have a question you can always look at the debates going on with the subject at hand and find a stance you put your personal weight in.

the only way religion and science will come together is if religion comes to its senses and im not sure they will come back into the light of reality. There to far gone IMHO

All we can do is try

Religion make a fool crazy, tell you that for a fact. :D

But god's alright. If people could just find the god in the religion, toss the wrapper, we'd be getting somewhere. But people get wrapped up. And science is big and cold and scary - ain't no place you wanna be without a guide. I think as more and more people become accustomed to science, these problems will wane. I think a lot of this "creationist revival" is a fire being fanned by the "heads" of religion because they know the "body" is dying, that dogma ain't gonna cut it much longer.

Religion is kinda like a pet alligator. It's all cute and weird and cool for a while. Then it gets big, and you really don't want it in the house.
