Can't religion and evolution be merged as one?

i must interject here.

it looks like some are confusing "faith" with "blind faith".

christians who have true faith in devine protection have a god given wisdom to distinguish between the absolute and the non-absolute. no body in their right mind would jump out of an airplane without a parachute and expect god to save them.

god gives one common sense to do all they can to help themselves (things within their control). he may provide any additional needed. if you refuse to use that common sense, then you cannot expect more devine intervention.

your hyperthetical senario deals with blind faith and temps god's devine intervention, which will always end negatively.

And once again, as is always the case, God's intervention is an exact match for the intervention of a being who does not exist. Funny how that works out.

Or for that matter, santa, the easter bunny, the tooth fairy, etc.
Well, if Santa was real then millions would see him yearly, and he would be picked up by air control tower radars throughout the world. And not too mention someone's porch, car, or something would have gotten splattered with reindeer pooh. If the Easter Bunny was real, well there is the same issue with that people would have seen that too. And for the Tooth Fairy, have you ever seen a fairy carrying around two large sacks or containers, one for the teeth and the other for money? And considering we know it is the parents who reach under their child's pillow for the tooth to replace it with money.

I'm just noting that all the evidence is consistent with the hypothesis that He does not.
This I find curious. If there is a god and this god does not get involved with the world, then evidence would show a lack. The same goes for those who believed god died after the creation of the universe, or the universe is god/an extension of god. Even if our world is like the Matrix, evidence would not indicate anything beyond this world of perception.

So is that a good way to test your faith? Jump out of an airplane without a parachute? In your view?

It is the object of ones faith that is important and not merely faith itself. In this case the object would be the parachute. I don't see how you could test it if you didn't have one on.

So people say either God made the universe, or the universe made the universe.

Well can't in fact there be a God, and yet the universe made the universe.
So in this instance, lets imagine that God made the big bang or whatever made the universe. Then from then on with Gods help we evolutionism into what we are now?

This is my personally opinion and I look forward to replies from fellow religious people.
Religion and evolution ARE one. Ther is no separation of the two other than in the delusional mind of Man. The separation came about by a clash of religious and scientific egos whos agenda was only to disprove the claims of the other. When scientists and creationists set aside their ego's and work together in harmony, the truth of our existence will be revealed. Working against each other will only keep Man in the dark.

does science and religion mix? it does for me because i believe:

Science does not agree that matter (the earth, stars, man or any other tangible thing) either be created (As stated in the beginning words of the Bible) or destroyed. In other words, you can’t make something from nothing. .

Yes it does, and it has amply demonstrated that matter can be created and destroyed. Its a fact that it can be.

What?:sarcastic

What don't you understand? Sniper762 claimed that science says that matter cannot be created or destroyed, he's wrong.

Science says that matter (in the terms he was talking about) can be created and destroyed.

Unless you are simply talky about matter/energy conversion, I do not see how matter can be either created or destroyed.

I do not generally agree with Sniper, and I find his initial post fallacious on many other levels, however, If he is saying that God formed matter out of the energy available (void, without form) it is somewhat plausible in a Godidit type of thinking.

Matter changes form, it is never destroyed.

You wouldn't be testing faith then, would you. You'd be testing the parachute. So, how would you test God?
