Christianity Does Not Equal Religion!

Is that relevant? If have a distaste for "organised religion" why would i study them all just to make sure im convinced?

Well, in Christianity it says nothing about eating beef, it does in Hinduism. There you go, a difference to study. As well the millions of other differences and beliefs between the two, you may find that just because one organised religion is the way it is, the other may be different, worse or better. It is good to know the difference, other wise you might come out with stupid things.

Also what Storm said, you avoid stereotypes, which to me is very important.

Penguinoni,

Many people reach these conclusions not necessarily based on their reading of world religious texts, but of the consequences of religious phenomena.
I completely understand and can relate to your claim that it is not based on substantial research, but I also believe there is another side to the coin.

Yes, I am sure there is a daily dish of contribution to the community as a result of religious practice that goes unnoticed.

You do not understand, i'm against religion. I do not want to waste my time just so i can join another pointless congregation (in a religious sense).

Instead of generallising, would you rather we start using member names and slandering them personally? Would you prefer that? The whole point of stereotyping for me is usually to avoid using names

Im getting sick of this! People are blaming god for the flood!

Agree. People are blaming others (including God) because of their own fault. There will be no flood if the people don't cut many trees, etc, etc.Their will be no melamine in milk if there's no one putting it on milk. Then they will blame the consiquences of their action on something/someone. It's the people that is unfair, not God.

Then why did you say you "know for a fact" that you hate "my" religion due to a Christian (or Jewish) Scripture?

It would seem that my statement has gone over some heads(no offense).

I was joking, of course.

If you look up deutoronomy 12:6, I think you'll find it apparent that the verse has nothing to do in particular with anything. That's because I pulled it out of my butt. I haven't read the bible in years, and I can't recall a single verse number.(on the small chance that it does have something to do with something, I assure you, I had no idea.)

However that avatar leads me to believe your a confucianist. You know I hate that. What's that? A tao te ching!? for shame. :cover:

I GET that. You are not against a specific religion, just religion in general.

Thats not entirely fair though, not using names means it applies to all religions, and some things you may say do not apply to other religions.

Im getting sick of this! People are blaming god for the flood! What God? Can we please label the God. People are disgusted with religion, and give quotes from the bible, the bible is the source of world religion!

All i am saying, is that think before you post, because if you do not like something about that religion, then let us know it is just that religion. It does get on my nerves.

Hey D P, I apologies for you being hurt by my remark, and it was not intended to offend you, just that I hate mans inhumanity to man, and I am glad to hear that the caste system is over. Moreover, I agree that India overall has contributed a lot to society as a whole with the brilliant ppl that are there. If not for them America may not have brought down Al Capone, nor would there be any movie genus detective named Columbo. Even the 0 that India has taken credit for was a great advancement from the babylonian culture, to bad he Greeks were thinking wrongly about it. Peace young man , I think you have a fine mind.

I did not read this entire thread, but I think DP is right about one thing: all religions are not the same- even if the god might just be or may not be. We just don't know.

Have you studied them equally?

I believe that I have. I have just come to the conclusion that they are all man-made books with all of them sharing one common similarity; that they are all founded on mere superstition and opinions. If there is God, there is no need for the organization of the idea. Especially if it cannot be experienced or proven today. It is static thought of the ancients. Sure, the book may have great moral teachings and may make you feel bubbly inside, but that does not make it truth.

So you have studied every religion and spiritual path equally and with an open mind??

Every one of them???

And you've come to the same conclusion about all religions.

What about the religions that don't have religious books?

I've seen so many similarities in the majority of religions, faiths, beliefs, that I have come to the conclusion that there is a chance they may have started from the same source. I am certainly not backed up with any proof or anything, but that is a possibility.
That would mean that they would have the same God.

Well, thanks, i think.

I hope we can bury our differences, and hopefully you may stop getting your knowledge of India from those charity appeals.
