It's thing called an inner voice. A psychological matter.

When a human is a child that inner voice is usually the mothers. It this a them in what is right and what is wrong. What to do.

Some of us wouldn't see it this way. We all internalise various beliefs - some coming from others - but mainly when we are an autonomous individual we just own our beliefs - which form, as mentioned about choices, from accepting or rejecting that which we input to our minds - and no outside source or authority required. Have you read Julian Jaynes book - well worth a read concerning your point.

Not bothered by this - I asserted that religions have been promoting false beliefs for much of their history and it is indisputable.

Homosexuality and religion - Wikipedia
You haven't yet defined the false beliefs.

All the priests and church workers I've ever met and teachers I've ever had (except for one, lol) have been extremely open minded about homosexuality.

(There was a rumour one of them said that one day there will no longer be gay people in the world - that god will make them go away. But we give benefit for a doubt as that was an elementary level rumour)

It is not church that opposes homosexuals, but people. Simple as that.

I've never heard such things from church personnel.
In many places churches have completely changed, there's even women as priests. In my country being homosexual stopped being a crime in 80s, but if you suggested they were just like us in church you'd be in for a surprise if you think how it is today.

All recent though - my point is about the influences that religions have had - and continue to have in the case of Islam - where homosexuality is forbidden or even punishable in various ways (in some countries).

You're very young so you didn't live back then, so it sounds like you are being honest. It's good that they are embarassed
about past in church.

If you lived in 80s in my country, you'd be surprised to come to today's church in my country. Though you could still
find those people who think so are still organized who think women aren't capable of being priests and gays are
disease, but the church is very actively trying to purge them. It was quite recently in the news that they don't even
let them preach in church.

You have done very little pointing to Islam. Is Christianity safe again?
