Dear journal;

Today, I made a ''typical'' Iranian breakfast...I warmed some whole wheat pita bread I bought from the ME market yesterday, and I had bought fig jam from there, as well. I took some light cream cheese and spread it on the pita and then put a teaspoon of fig jam over the cream cheese. OMG, it was really good. I was skeptical, but I wanted to give it a try. I googled some other breakfast ideas, and I didn't like the idea of hummus or other more lunch/dinner type things for breakfast. Other country's cuisines are interesting to me.

I watched a documentary recently called ISIS - Women Unveiled, and it's really chilling. That organization is so scary. What is really confusing to me is why are women who are born in democracy, like those in England, converting and joined this organization? The stories that are coming back from women who were kidnapped by ISIS, are chilling...they rape their women over and over, the women contract all kinds of infections and sicknesses, and have babies by their rapists. The rapists are calling themselves ''husbands'' of these women. Why would anyone willingly join this organization, especially as a woman? It is a very interesting documentary. It's not graphic or anything, this documentary mainly talks about how they are using Twitter and other social media platforms to recruit people and it's basically told by a woman who went undercover to meet some of these women who are part of ISIS in England.

Off to go for a run, and hope everyone is having a wonderful day! :sunflower:

People who do not belong to a loving family or stable social group are the best targets for cults like ISIS. The cults take these people in, feed them, clothe them and treat them with respect at first. Only after they start to believe the BS do they start to use them. Cults have been operating like this for centuries.

The devil preys upon the weak, the insecure, the vulnerable, the outcasts, the sick, the deranged.... It's quite sad :(
I don't see why any woman would want to support Isis... But some women are attracted to misogyny. I don't understand what the attraction is.

They may have grown up with an a**hole for a dad, or dad wasn't around. Or they grew up in an abusive home. Usually women who have major issues with dating bad guys, have daddy issues. I should know, I was once one of those. lol But, my dad and I are super cool now, he's apologized for his upbringing of me, and how harsh he was...but some women never heal from those relationships and then choose bad guys.

If you are a liberated woman living in England, the US, etc and are willingly joining ISIS, there's likely something from your childhood that is causing you to be attracted to those psychos. ISIS is a psychopathic organization, and has tainted the beauty of Islam and the middle east.

Deidre answered with a very good reply. They prey on people who feel alone. They move in and make them think they care and make them feel loved. It is only much later that they use them to do their dirty work.

Dear journal;

What a sad tragic day for the US, and for humanity, in general. A lone gunman who seemed to have no track record of violence, decides to go on a shooting rampage at a concert in Las Vegas. I can't believe the horror that everyone must be going through. I can't imagine what the victims felt during their last moments. Life is so precious and I find myself spending it complaining about this or that, when really...life is GOOD. I have a great life ...filled with blessings, and it can all end in an instant. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims today, and it's just such a mind boggling thing. Why did this man do this? I happen to think he was incredibly lonely, I mean...the end of your life comes down to being barricaded in a hotel room, alone, with a bunch of guns, and then after your shooting spree, you shoot yourself? That sounds like a sad life to me, that he had. He was wealthy supposedly, and what we can learn is that money and things don't buy happiness.

Keep these victims in your thoughts and hearts today. :brokenheart:

Such a tragedy. I woke up to the news, and my heart broke for all those who were suffering.

Great post Deidre. That's also extremely thoughtful of you to have compassion on and feel sorry for the lonely troubled man responsible. ((Hugssss))

I'm angry over it, but I don't just chalk people up to 'oh, well he's nuts' and then move on. He definitely seems like he had serious issues, obviously. No one does something like that if they are healthy minded. I hate when I hear in the news all these people who knew him and he was normal, a laid back guy. Give me a break. People who are normal and laid back don't shoot up concerts of thousands of people. I always believe there are warning signs of depression and psychosis, but people ignore them, and then this happens.

I feel for all the innocent lives, ugh. It's just so senseless. :(

Dear journal;

Falafel is delicious, yet really REALLY filling. I only had like three pieces, and they were on the smaller side, and really filling.

The pieces I heated up were smaller, I bought them already prepared from that middle eastern market over the weekend.

I'm going to attempt these pretty eye makeup options, maybe for the holidays. I love middle eastern make up looks.

That is SO thick and heavy, wayyy more than I normally wear, but really pretty and has that effect that many middle eastern models wear.

Dear journal,

Made leftover falafel tonight (in the microwave from last night), and it wasn't that good. I think it's best to eat those types of foods right when you make them. Oh well. lol Had a good day at work, and it seems like the week is speeding by. I'm looking forward to the weekend.

I'm really feeling at peace from the news my dad told me. It's settling in, and I'm just living with it, now. It's cool to know that you're heritage stretches out to other parts of the world that you didn't know about.

What I've always liked about you deidre is you accept broken people, without conditions... There are few people like that:heart:

I can't tell you how many times you've forgiven me and put up with bad behavior from me... I hope you can see that I am growing and maturing... But sometimes I relapse into my old ways... Thank you for your patience :sunflower:

I'll always be real with you and never lie to you

I have a suspicion of why he did it. It was, for him, the ultimate high stakes poker game.. deceiving people for over a year on what he intended and "winning" the highest stake.. the lives of 58 unsuspecting people. I also fear that he died a very happy and satisfied man. Let's see if this suspicion is confirmed. I fear it would do nothing to comfort the victims. But again, I suspect, there is a meticulous planning and a "sick" kind of rationale in choosing both the date and the venue of his shooting, as he thought it to be the biggest and most challenging "game" of his life.
Thoughts and prayers to all the victims of his twisted mind.
