Notice how the most stable governments are a form of socialism. Also notice the Trump, Some Evangelists, The Right Conservatists and Fox news have all mentioned a Civil war in the US if Trump is impeached or loses the 2020 election. Also how we a doing nothing to stop foreign interference in to our elections, in Fact the President is actively requesting it. I would say if the poll was done today our democracy would drop pretty far down the list.

Who on earth would want empathy? Or equality? Or compassion (I mean what's that for, anyway)? Or a dedication to putting people and our planet, the only home we can possibly have right now, ahead of profits?

At the very least, it couldn't hurt all that badly to at least make putting people and our planet at least EQUAL to profits, rather than putting profits first, and everything else taking a back seat.

All one has to do is to note the sheer loss of control of one's own private business over the years to stringent government regulations to the point that the government now runs the business more than the owners do. The reasons are cliche each time , the environment , health , safety , and of course, "for the children".

Hard to believe all this started with antitrust laws in the late 1890s. All I can say is frog slowly being cooked in the frying pan until it's too late.

I noticed it first hand. Especially from the sheer loss of personal and economic freedom since the 1970s as a direct result of socialist Democrat policies . It all begins with the nanny state which is what the Socialist Democrats are doing fullsteam to people in a substantial number of cases and on various occasions have exempted themselves from the very laws they create.

You left out a paragraph or two that come later -- the ones that describe HOW the government attains those most worthy ends. Things like making laws, taxing for the common good, adjudicating disagreements and like that....
