Did Sodom and Gommorah deserve to get zapped?

Did Sodom and Gommorah deserve to be cosmically zapped?

Sodom and Gommorah were cosmically zapped by the most High, do you think that this was deserving, or is this a matter of of an immoral deity?

I think the question is: Did it get zapped? No!
If it had been, did it deserve to get zapped? Not really. If God zaps a place of living because of homosexuality then why didn't he/does he zap a jungle because of monkey homosexuality?

Were S&G?
In a pre-Abrahamic world who would have any authority or credibility speaking for The God of Abraham?

According to the Jewish interpretation of events, 6 of the 7 Noahide Laws were already given to Adam and passed down until Noah who then passed all of them to his children, etc (Shem and Ever were still around at this point, I believe). So humanity as a whole had already received that commandment, just as the generation of the Flood had already received them.

I consider zapping slightly more moral than waterboarding.

No. Any person, deity included, who murders others regardless the intent is just wrong, in my opinion. I had a whole opinion about this in a Capitol Punishment thread couple months ago. It's just. Wrong.

God should zap the Bible Belt for it's sinful divorce rate. Isn't divorce a sin just like homosexuality?
----------------------------------------
The data showed that the highest divorce rates were found in the Bible Belt. "Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama and Oklahoma round out the Top Five in frequency of divorce...the divorce rates in these conservative states are roughly 50 percent above the national average" of 4.2/1000 people.

- 11 southern states (AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, MS, NC, NM, OK, SC and TX averaged 5.1/1000 people. (LA data is not available; TX data is for 1997).

- Nine states in the Northeast (CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT) averaged only 3.5/1000 people.

I don't think that the story is literal or historical.

I think that they represent two lower nature's or characteristics within a human being that were destroyed and overcome by a "cosmic" energy within.

The story of Sodom and gammorah is just one of many tales in the bible which showcase a petulant, angry, hateful, and genocidal god. Such atrocities and genocides are why I stopped being jewish and rejected ALL Abrahamic faiths. They are all tainted by evil imho. And that is something I will not tolerate. No offence meant but that is my honest view.

How did homosexuality get in the picture?

Sodom and Gomorrah's supposed reason for being destroyed was that homosexuality was rampant. Also the word Sodom means the actual act of homosexual sex... I.E. someone was sodomized.

Why take these scriptures literally? Look at all the carnage in the OT and compare it with a dearth of such carnage in the NT. God didn't change. Man's view of God did. That view is still changing by many of us who are not into 'an eye for an eye' theology.
