They've always been there. It's only more recently we've began protecting children (such as creating the concept of adolescence/teenage years), and very more recently that it's ok to discuss sexual abuse.

In some areas it is appropriate. When it comes to meddling in their lives based on feelings and not evidence produced by science that is inappropriate and suspicious. Like thinking LGBT stuff is inappropriate for kids. That's personal feelings, not facts or scientific evidence.

I’ve no doubt that giant corporations likely don’t really care about any politics unless it interferes with their bottom line.
Disney likely saw this as an opportunity to “look good” by pretending to care about the infamous “don’t say gay bill.”

DeSantis hit back and well it didn’t exactly work out for him. Not only did Disney’s army of lawyers play him like a fiddle, The Donald is currently mocking him publicly for being defeated by Mickey Mouse. At least from what I’ve seen

Still, a corporation as large as Disney would be very aware of their PR at all times. They didn’t get that big without knowledge of how business works. And that includes public perception

That was a business decision...just a bad one.
I speak of people who run businesses using
them to advance personal agendas, which
could be conservative, progressive, support
for engine museums (eg Diebold).

BTW, Diebold has had some tax troubles, &
been accused of being a scam, but they do
