Disney v DeSantis. Go Mickey!

Disney went from Paradise to Hell. It deserves disapproval. From romance, fables, to woke themes.

How are you defining "woke themes" here? Social justice seems to be such a theme these days, and yet the American Constitution has, as a central part of its design, protections of minorities and non-mainstream opinions from being deprived of their rights to be different, or to disagree, by the majority.

Are you of the opinion that people who are different should be silenced and/or hidden away and/or punished?

What themes in particular do you disapprove of, and provide an example.
Good question. For instance, our PM Meloni pointed out that homosexuality should not be portrayed in any Disney movie.
Yet, either implicitly or explicitly, it's more and more present.

The reason? Because kids don't understand LGBT themes. They would be misled, especially prepubescents.

Why would it be different from heterosexual themes,.and how would they be "misled"?
Also, nobody gives a **** about who Meloni is nor her thoughts on Disney.

Not occording to the political ideology that you've embraced. Not in the eyes of DeSantis. You've denounced trans advocacy, so you might as well renounce your trans identity.
Let's clarify.
DeSantis agrees with me and I think prepubescents shouldn't be taught LGBT themes in school or anywhere else.
Only when one is in high school, there can be mention of such topics.

Yes, you heard it right! The Left is siding with a very wealthy company that has been given a special self-governing autonomy since the 1960's. All because Disney decided to enter the political arena.
I mean, to be fair, it’s sort of a “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” kind of deal. At least that’s the sentiment I’ve seen expressed repeatedly in such spaces.

I’m not American so I don’t really have a horse in this race.
But I will say, it seems rather dumb of a politician to go after one of the biggest employers in your state.
Also if this is retaliation for their outspoken opposition to his policies, isn’t that technically violating their First Amendment rights? Since Disney apparently qualifies enough for that?

Let's clarify, indeed.
DeSantis does not agree with you - You agree with him.

So...all the drag queens reading stories to kindergartners ....no.

If DeSantis decides that such topics can't be mentioned even then, how long before you fall in line?

Sorry but kids aren’t that stupid.
I’ve effortlessly explained the concept to my many young nieces and nephews when they ask me.
“Some people like boys. Some like girls. Some like both and some like neither.”
It’s accepted with a shrug and a “oh okay.”
And they go about their lives

It’s adults who can’t seem to grasp this most basic of concepts, apparently.
Way too hung up about sex maybe. Idk.
Either way it’s depressing to see

You may be right but I'm always curious about why corporations feel they need to voice an opinion about matters completely unrelated to their business model?

PR, basically.
I’ve no doubt that giant corporations likely don’t really care about any politics unless it interferes with their bottom line.
Disney likely saw this as an opportunity to “look good” by pretending to care about the infamous “don’t say gay bill.”
Virtue signalling, as the kids say.
DeSantis hit back and well it didn’t exactly work out for him. Not only did Disney’s army of lawyers play him like a fiddle, The Donald is currently mocking him publicly for being defeated by Mickey Mouse. At least from what I’ve seen

You explained it splendidly.
But if there is not a parent that explains that, children can be misled by the ambiguous images they can see in a Disney movie.

This is just my personal opinion, I may be wrong.

Corporations do what corporations do to make money. Disney believes (correctly) that opposing anti-lgbtq bigotry is good for their business.

I happen to believe opposing bigotry is the right thing to do, you might think it is the wrong thing to do. But Disney thinks it is good business.

I don’t think that’s the case. From what I understand about the science, it seems that (on average anyway) children are innately aware of their own identity and perhaps even their orientation as young as 4-5. Even though they might not be able to articulate it just yet. Obviously there is no inherent sexual thoughts in that identity.

Besides, how could it possibly mislead them? And mislead them how, exactly???
Like how would seeing a gay character mislead them? Answer me honestly, please.
Because I can’t see how it would make any difference.
I mean do kids get misled by Sleeping Beauty marrying the Prince? By Belle marrying the Beast?
Well??
Hell Disney already had an ambiguous character with Quasimodo back during the “Disney Renaissance.” He ended up not marrying Esmeralda, but still remaining happy. Did that confuse kids?

School isn't a place for pushing a political agenda on children.

Ah, so homophobia, then.

How is it "misleading" to show prepubescent people that gay people exist, exactly? Do they not exist?

The bible apparently says pi = 3. However math classes teach that pi = 3.14
Is this the "political agenda" that you speak of?
Lol I know a maths professor who is still rather annoyed about that
I think he is either Catholic or at least came from a Catholic family
