Disney v DeSantis. Go Mickey!

How are you defining "woke themes" here? Social justice seems to be such a theme these days, and yet the American Constitution has, as a central part of its design, protections of minorities and non-mainstream opinions from being deprived of their rights to be different, or to disagree, by the majority.

Are you of the opinion that people who are different should be silenced and/or hidden away and/or punished?
It seems that "woke" is coming to mean "progressive, regarding LGBLT folk".

Yes, you heard it right! The Left is siding with a very wealthy company that has been given a special self-governing autonomy since the 1960's. All because Disney decided to enter the political arena.
I can only assume somehow the Mouse has had a change of heart over the years. When I was in college, their hiring practices were rather bigoted questionable. They'd recruit workers on campus and unless you looked, uhm... a certain way ("All American", 3 guesses what that meant and the first 2 guesses don't count), they would not hire you for a public-facing job. The exception was if you uhm... had the right look... for a "corresponding" attraction at Epcot. If you didn't look "All American" then they would hire you but it was behind-the-scenes work (e.g., food services, janitorial, etc.).

You explained it splendidly.
But if there is not a parent that explains that, children can be misled by the ambiguous images they can see in a Disney movie.

This is just my personal opinion, I may be wrong.
Do you think children are being misled by Mulan?

Disney is trash, anyway. They literally abuse children by manufacturing teen idols and popstars, who end up being traumatized, mentally ill, having breakdowns, drug addicts and alcoholics. Many or even most of them would've been sexually abused, as well, as it's not a secret that there's a huge pedophile problem in the entertainment industry. Most of the biggest names in teen pop music of the last 20+ years either started out on the Disney Channel or had their whole careers and images created and controlled by them. And if it's not Disney, it's usually Nickelodeon, which has a well-documented pedo problem.

I find Disney to be a disturbing and dark entity. I don't buy its family friendly, kid friendly image at all. They're just another monstrous corporation, almost a monopoly. They own a huge chunk of the media in the US. They're in the business of controlling people's perceptions, which is sick.

And that speaks in Stentorian tones to what I see as the coming culture war -- invented and waged by Republicans. You remember, the party that touts "freedom" as a holy word (Star Trek episode, Yangs and Cooms). But they don't mean the freedom to live as you see fit. They never did. They mean your freedom to live as they see fit. They can't help themselves -- they can't imagine what it feels like not to be them.

The polls lately show that what I am saying above is absolutely true. How many trans people do you think there are in America? How many of them are trying to play sports unfairly? Big numbers? Hah! But that's where the focus is going. And they'll be coming after Pete Buttigieg and his husband and kids before you know it -- because while everybody should be free, they shouldn't be free to be like that OMG!!

You keep trying to find ways to forgive this stuff, but it is real, and it is going to get worse over the next 18 months. It comes down to people trying to decide whether "traditional values" or "tolerance" is more important -- without recognizing that they are not mutually exclusive, because neither mandates participation. A traditional family is not enjoined to become gay. A cis-hetero boy is not encouraged to become a tran-girl-lesbian. But if that's the case, why insist that a gay man become a hetero father? What will that accomplish for anybody? What's the PURPOSE for such a thing? ---- And the answer is, there's no purpose, there's only ignorance and unwillingness to understand that not everybody can be the same. And that not only does that not matter, it can actually enrich.

I want to rant more, but I know you'll never read this far down.

The freedom to be a straight Christian, ehe.

You know, I wonder why you subtly disparage me like that. Maybe you don't know you're doing it?

I'm like you in many ways. I have strong feelings about a few things. I'm reasonably self-assured, try to be reasonable, don't spend a lot of time on the (at my age spectacturaly minor) fact that I'm gay. I try to address issues. Yes, sometimes I get angry -- I really would like to see the world improve a tiny amount before I'm done, which isn't far in the future.

But -- I also like you. Could we address each other as equals? (I'm not "kitty.")

First, I wasn't being subtle.
Second, I post with intent.
Third, I wasn't disparaging you, just mirthfully mocking you.

"Kitty" isn't a label for you.
"Kitty's got claws" is just an idiom.
But I don't want to treat you as an equal.
You deserve more respect than that.

Not occording to the political ideology that you've embraced. Not in the eyes of DeSantis. You've denounced trans advocacy, so you might as well renounce your trans identity.
Being a trans woman is not an identity and it's not bound to politics. You either are one or you're not. It has nothing to do with your political or social opinions. It's like telling an African-American they're not black if they don't support BLM.

And that, folks, is why the government needs to step in and use its power to punish them.

Good question. For instance, our PM Meloni pointed out that homosexuality should not be portrayed in any Disney movie.
Yet, either implicitly or explicitly, it's more and more present.

The reason? Because kids don't understand LGBT themes. They would be misled, especially prepubescents.
Of course they can understand those themes. Especially the kids who have two moms, like my cousin's daughter. It's the same "theme" as having a heterosexual couple portrayed in a movie.

What do you mean by "misled?"

Let's clarify.
DeSantis agrees with me and I think prepubescents shouldn't be taught LGBT themes in school or anywhere else.
Only when one is in high school, there can be mention of such topics.
So kids should be completely unaware that gay people exist in the world until they're in high school? Why??
They could be one of those gay people. They could know a gay person. Their parents could be gay people.

Prepubescents don't have sexuality.
They are underdeveloped sexually, that's what prepubescent means.

Sure they do. But that doesn't answer the question I asked, nor does it address the point, which was:

Do you think they need a self-awareness as gay people so 9 year old kids can engage in homosexual sex?
Is that what you're getting at?

Because prepubescents are not supposed to have sex.
