Do some people really find the Bhagavad Gita evil?

Subhankar Zac

Hare Krishna,Hare Krishna,
What makes you think I haven't done my research? You are a Congress member, no? The hyperbole used with the word 'terrorist' is extreme. Terrorists do suicide bombings, etc. But as with many people, minds have been made up long ago. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress of the new VHP temple here in Canada. It will be the largest in North America. Accusations of funneling money will be 'around' but nobody will take it seriously.

Just congress? Should you abuse me with a lower caste title and call me a Pakistani Muslim as well? :p
And you are free to see whatever you wish. There are ISIS cells in Canada as well that is waiting to see sharia law legal in Canada. Maybe you could use an ally there.

And it's excellent to see a devoted Hindu supportive of hate groups that follows a religion that preaches freedom from material attachments but focuses entirely on the magnitude and size of a temple.
Clap! Clap! Clap!

However, Hinduism does not call for overlooking the reality of the world, Vyavaharika Satya. You can forget that at your own risk.

Hare Krishna,Hare Krishna,
What is the take on sexuality in the Gita, is it evil?

In Gita, Krishna says "I m sex life which is not contradictory to Dharmic beliefs"... But too much focus of sensual pleasures, sex, good, luxury, money is never good.
It is supportive of all sexualities in my view

Hare Krishna,Hare Krishna,
Nathuram Godse was affiliated to Hindu Mahasabha and not to RSS. Views can differ. Not all Hindus like their women in skimpy clothes particularly in the law-less environment that we have today or have drinks in bars at mid-night. If it were not for these organizations, the Italian lady and the heir-apparent, Gadha Prasad, of the dynasty would have been in control siphoning Indian money by buying helicopters at six times their cost, as her husband did in buying guns, submarines, etc.

And here I thought that Hindus on this forum were progressive.
Even most Christians here don't support the Kkk or the WBC as enthusiastically as Hindus support their hate groups.
But if a Muslim supports wahabbi groups, he's a terrorist.

Surely Hinduism doesn't call for making huge temples when you have starving children (of Hindu faiths itself)

I am sexual activity not conflicting with virtue or scriptural injunctions.

I'm not sure if there's anything scriptural or theological on the subject of sex, so I always took this to mean that as long as it hurts no one (of course this rules out adultery, rape, probably incest), there's probably no problem. Though I may be missing something here. On the other hand, I've seen pictures of carvings on temples that are downright pornographic! :D

Khajoraho temples have depictions of homoerotic images.
Also of bestiality as well.

I can't say much about the "religious" hate that the BJP apparently encourages, but I will say that the new government has called for some amazing initiatives such as money spent for forest conservation, solar energy, pro-business etc.

I just care about my people (1.2 billion) getting a first-class standard of living. Whether a Muslim does it, or a communist, I don't care.

Regarding the OP, I have not met anyone who thinks that the Gita encourages violence. Almost every open-minded person I've talked to (atheists included) has some respect for it.

Yes, but that 1.2 billion people also includes LGBT that their allies and members prefer to be jailed or electrocuted.
It involves Muslims about whom their allies spread hate speeches and ransacked churches in Haryana.
When focus is only on financial development and not on human rights, I'd rather live as a free beggar.

I don't really know if I would say that there have been no advances on human rights. And while I cannot justify some of the things that you say they encourage, I wonder how better their opponents are.

Yes. Why not. But.

In Hinduism, four Purushartha-s are mentioned. One must know the hierarchy.

It's really amazing ... the progress. Here's another 'terrorist' group we should all worry about. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rashtra_Sevika_Samiti

This discrimination will depend on your values. I will only say that only very very bold people venture to say anything at all nowadays.
