Do you believe in the afterlife?

You know in the Christian sense I can get this because all people are spiritually dead in Christianity until they are reborn again by the spirit given by God. (John 3).

That's a very depressing religion. Since everything we do and are is life, no one can be dead or alive in it. In that respect, no one can be given the spirit of god-since everything is the currents/ocean-everything Is god. In other words, everything has the same value, we just need to put out good actions and gratitude to realize it.

A common consensus in spiritual practices and traditions is you have years to practice and gain wisdom of a said practice before the actual conviction-or click-that it is the faith you will adopt into your life as your life. Some religions it takes a year to get to the "entry" stage but it takes years before one is even close to being even in part realized.

Many religions say you have to run the race to get the medal-that takes time, effort, and training. The person isn't dead spiritually because he doesn't have the medal yet, just growing to appreciate it once he gets it.

However, if someone is told they are spiritual dead and don't need to train, then it makes the medal somewhat useless. The motivation to get it isn't because one spiritual progressed-so what have they learned to achieve that medal?

If I said that at all right.

Haha. Sorry. Carried away I guess.

Everyone (and everything) is the ocean/life.

Our actions are waves. When we commit an act good or bad, they are the currents receding and expanding (lbw). The waves (our actions) are not separate than the ocean (life); they make it up. Everything affects each other-one ocean/one life. There is no life and death because the ocean doesn't disappear. It's in constant motion. In other words, when I die, life goes on.

As for the afterlife, I don't believe in that in the common sense of the term. My physical body will no longer be here, but my actions, the waves, will always exist as the ocean/life. Whether people remember me or not, I don't know. They usually tend to remember the prophets and Mother Teressa.

After-life isn't a good word for it, to tell you honestly.

I don’t believe I’m going to be remembered except by the few loved ones who knew me. Thank for sharing.

I was spiritually dead until being born again from above. I don’t find the work of God depressing yet hopeful, and there are promises that God gives such as eternal life, salvation, hope, and spirit to live by and have the willingness to love others, and pray and hope for the best in their lives and also encourage others in the faith to continue to hold on to hope in a world that is really rough and tough to live in.

I must go take care all thank you for your responses.

Do you know or have you read what the afterlife is like in your view?

It varies depending on whom you ask in Hinduism. I believe in heaven realms, like Pitriloka (realm of the ancestors) and Devaloka (realm of the Gods) and I believe in hell realms, like Narakaloka. Neither are eternal, and eventually, you reincarnate. But again,I can only speak for myself, as there are other Hindus here who might see things differently.

I will add, I also believe that the end result is Moksha. Union with God. That can look different, depending on who you ask, but I am monistic, so I believe that we merge with God, realizing our oneness with Him. So the end result isn't an afterlife, it's total union.

My question is do you believe in the afterlife?
A second question is their judgement going into your afterlife that you believe in?
I believe in *an* afterlife, not the afterlife as you have described.
In my version of the afterlife the spirits of people will be awakened upon death to find their level of spiritual development dependent on the degree to which they have developed virtues in this life.

Although there will still be room in the afterlife to develop virtue to such spirits as wish to acquire them, so the Mercy of God is never completely cut off.

I believe once the physical body dies it begins to decompose unlikely to ever return in the same physical/chemical composition.

In my opinion.

No I don't believe in an afterlife. Once I die, everything I was, felt, thought, dreamed will be gone forever. Though, an afterlife would be awesome. I like being alive so continuing it as long as I desire seems to me like a great prospect, but sadly, I believe this is pure fantasy.

I don’t believe I’m going to be remembered except by the few loved ones who knew me............................

I find at Ecclesiastes 2:16; 9:5 that there is No lasting memory of either the wise or the un-wise.
So, what we need is to be remembered in God's Book of Life. Have our names written in His Book.
Because our names can be blotted out of God's Book of Remembrance, we need to do our obedient part.
Instead of afterlife (being more alive after death then before death) the Bible speaks of : Resurrection.
Being resurrected out of death's deep sleep as Jesus and the OT teach - John 11:11-14; Psalms 115:17; Isaiah 38:18
Some have a first or earlier resurrection like those of Luke 22:28-30; Daniel 7:18; Revelation 20:6; 2:10; 5:9-10.
Later, the majority of mankind will be awakened (resurrected) from death's sleep.
This is why Acts of the Apostles 24:15 uses the future tense that there ' is going to be ' a resurrection......

That's the reward first view. I always thought that odd. But mostly I find it so cause of upbringing in a work-first environment. So, it seems odd to give me, say, salvation and hope when I put nothing in to earn it. It makes it one-sided and has less value than say a marriage where both parties put something into the mix.

I've always wondered why deeds is such a bad thing for many non-catholics christians. Do they not like work? Do they feel they are unworthy that they find it useless to do anything but only to receive? Is their spiritual progress built on who forgives them? What would happen if someone took their salvation away... if they didn't work towards spiritual growth, they wouldn't be flexible enough to move on. They'd be stuck.

But to actually think about these things, well, gets kinda uncomfortable. I don't know if religious critique their own faith or practice because of it. Skepticsm has its benefits and drawbacks.

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
I'm all for an afterlife. Especially one where everybody gets what they truly deserve until everyone is redeemed. If evil is eternal then may those that do it eventually cease to be.

Is there an afterlife, I think logically there has to be one. I don't feel or sense that there is, but logically I'm convinced that it is likely. The absolute unconditioned reality of vast intelligence must exist. We are merely one expression of it.

I don't think supreme justice exists in the afterlife. But I do think life must eventually lead inevitably to supreme justice.

As a person who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ: his life here on earth, death, burial, and resurrection and that Jesus is the way, the truth, the life and no one comes to that Father except by and through Christ Jesus.

Romans 1: 16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.

Romans 1:16 for I am not ashamed of the good news of the Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation to every one who is believing, both to Jew first, and to Greek.

I’m banking on the idea by faith of hopes of the resurrection by God after dying from this life here on earth. I can not prove that the afterlife exists but am banking on going their by and through faith on the Lord Jesus Christ by my willingly choice to have faith and believe.

My understanding of the afterlife is that all people are given spiritual bodies and go on as believers to be with God and the Lord Jesus Christ... I don’t really know what happens to unbelievers other than they are given a spiritual body and are free to roam outside of the kingdom of heaven according to the Revelation 22.

My question is do you believe in the afterlife?

There is judgement within the context of the Bible for all people after this life.

It would be kinda cool if there was a second act, but there's absolutely no verifiable evidence to warrant belief in any sort of an an afterlife.

No and no.

I see no reason to take either idea seriously, and I'm not self-centered enough to believe without evidence that the universe would care about perserving or judging me.

No.

Death is the irreversible cessation of your body's life supporting systems.

Souls, on all the evidence available to me, are entirely imaginary.

And I can think of no reason why an all-powerful God ─ or anyone else ─ would want an ever-expanding zoo full of humans, every single one of them past their use-by date.

Or what any human would hope to gain by living forever without relevance or purpose. As Woody Allen is said to have said, Eternity is very long, especially towards the end.

Yeah, I do. It is a chemical sort of afterlife that I believe in. The atoms which form my body will join millions of things after I die.
No judgement in my view of afterlife. How will God reward or punish the atoms of my body which will later be in millions of things, living and non-living? What do Bible or Quran say about that?

Yes, I believe in an afterlife: eternal life through Jesus Christ. I believe the Judgment Seat of Christ will take place for believers,(which concerns rewards) and the Great White Throne Judgment which concerns all unbelievers who reject Christ, forgiveness and eternal life.

thank you for sharing if that is your desire then who am I to say any different. Many people have their own desires about what the after looks or may be.

The fact of it is we do not even know afterlife exist.

From my viewpoint however I’m hoping of a resurrection after this life I live here on earth to go be with God and the Lord Jesus Christ and that is all I know; I hope that people who do not believe come to see the light one day be it right now today or some point in the afterlife.

I really can’t say the afterlife even exist. Though I believe and have faith of it existing and it is because of God and Jesus Christ who will we be going to in my belief in which all people even Christians are judged then given a spiritual body that includes people who reject or desire nothing to do with God they too are given a spiritual body in my belief but they are place on the outside of the kingdom of the heavenly Jerusalem.

this my subjective belief when it comes down to the Bible and what it has to say.
