Do you hate people?

That he has become a Calvinist is proof of his election.

That he has become a Calvinist proves nothing about his elect status. It's inherent in the five points. So he can relax! Nothing he can do will change God's decision.

And only God knows who the other elect are, so there's no way for you to judge who the hated reprobates are. Isn't that beautiful? Now you're free to love instead of hate!

Your God is a vengeful, spiteful, hateful, unkind, uncaring deity, in stark contrast to the god presented in the New Testament.

God is no respecter of persons. He hates sin and will destroy sinners. If you want to call that vengeful, unkind etc., be my guest. But think of what awaits a man who hates God.

Shalom,

As a Calvinist, I believe that humans are morally depraved, so I have nothing but contempt for them. I don't seek to hurt them, but I don't help them or even sympathize with them; they're not worth my time.

What about you? Love humans or hate them?

Thanks for participating.

People suck, indeed.

But, we can love, as we're capable of emotion and action that reflect the opposite of moral depravity...to hate humanity would only fuel the fires of moral decay.

And your version of god goes against everything taught about him in the NT. I'm trying to figure out, other than John Calvin, where you get your ideas from. Certainly not from what Jesus taught, that's for sure. Paul wouldn't even go that far.

I'm indifferent to most people; I don't think humans are particularly dumb. I'm more bothered by people who think that other animals are superior to us as if we're guilty of things no other species fathoms. :sarcastic For the past few thousands years we've been pretty alone in terms of our intelligence and while we've made plenty of mistakes, we've managed well enough.

You make God out to be a respecter of person! He loves all men, but you say he respects only a few,

Do you claim to be a Bible beliving Christian? Or is Calvin your stone on which you build your faith?

So, I have an inquiry, and I would appreciate a solid answer, as it will educate me properly on the subject which you know. If I know how you feel, I can better understand your point of view.

My question is, if God hates sin, why did he create it?

So, assuming that God created all, which includes sin, then that means he created something to hate, and created people with the purpose of doing that which he hates. He then has already decided from the very beginning, that those people will do what he hates, and that he will destroy them.

On the other hand, he creates people who will not do what he hates and he will not destroy them.

So, God creates people for the purpose of being loved and saved, and God creates people for the purpose of being hated by him. Why? To me, it's not remotely logical, reasonable, rational, loving, humane, or nice; not to mention, its just plain mean.

That's like raising your kid and purposefully teaching them to do things that you wont allow, then punishing them for it when they grow up by torturing them. Sounds sadistic

This does not remotely resemble the loving God that Jesus talks about, nor does it resemble the love Jesus showed to those who were torturing him and heckling him and crucifying him.

Anyway, please explain this properly so that I have a good understanding of it.

Anyway, I expect a full answer. Please dont avoid a full direct answer to my question like you have been with Quagmire. If I do not receive a full answer, I will take it as an admission of fallacy, and a sign that you are telling me that there is a structural flaw in your doctrine.

Thanks

Thanks for all your responses.

As a Calvinist, I believe that most people in this world are reprobates destined for perdition; they are vile, wicked creatures, hating God and hated by God. So hating such despicable beings seems justifiable, as also inevitable.

If Calvinism were true, then that would make god himself a wicked, vile creature.

As antisocial as I am, I perceive humanity as a pain. People bother me just by being around me, which is why I prefer to be a hermit.

I can see the hermit thing, although I doubt I'll ever get there myself--too many people in my network! Humanity as in "the mass of humanity" is a bit frightening.

If I hate other human beings, then I should hate myself too as a human being myself. Just sayin'..

As Jesus said, love your neighbor as you love yourself.

I've done the hermit thing before, and quite liked it. And hopefully I'll get to do it again, but for a much longer period, and with more focus and concentration than I did before.

Okay, if this guy is a Calvin-ist, where are all the Hobbes-ists? I smell a battle looming.
