Thank you for the correction, But i was speaking to one that had told me that he had read all of the bible and yet he said that was all rubish. However for you it is inspiring, i stand corrected.
Do you understand the scriptures? Do you have a panoramic view of what is all about?
I will say this: I have not read the entire Bible.
I have, however, read all four gospels and have many times meditated on the teachings of Jesus the Sage. The Tanakh is full of wonderful stories, allegories, and applicabilities (what Tolkien referred to as meaning the reader finds rather than what the author intended), while the gospels are filled with great wisdom. (I'm not too big a fan of Paul's writings, but from him I've gained a better understanding of evangelical Christianity. Neither am I too big a fan of Revelations, but I'm not that big on prophecy in general, anyway; I like the future to be a surprise. )
I also believe the same wisdom, though worded very differently, can be found in all other major, and sometimes minor, religions as well. For example, Jesus taught to forsake the material world in favor of the spiritual world; this teaching is mirrored in nearly all Eastern religions like Hinduism and Buddhism.
So, just as Krsna says in the Bhagavad-Gita, there are many paths that lead to God.
