Donald Trump’s surge is all about less-educated Americans

In a nutshell, the people pushing Trump to the head of the polling pack in the very crowded Republican field, the people who have assured Trump a position on the debate stage next month and the people fueling Trump's candidacy are — overwhelmingly but not limited to — white, Republicans with limited education.
Article

No real surprise here.

Nothing to see here... The people voting for Trump are voting based on the adversity they are experiencing.

I live in the Midwest, and all of the jobs your kid could do are being done by some age forty Mexican. I'm not racist, but I'm not stupid either... We are damaging our labor pool by preventing our young people from getting experience. No other country in the world would allow an undocumented worker to even STAND in their country, and they have tight rules in cases where they do (like the EU)... Really, the problem isn't the undocumented people as much as it is the lack of prosecution on their employers (who are ARE breaking the law).

How can you tell if they are undocumented?

Some are some aren't. I think the real trouble is the lack of enforcement at the employer level -- I don't think it's up to my opinion. Most jobs that are cash-in hand around me are staffed by illegals. If they weren't then you'd see a few white and black guys doing the jobs wouldn't you, since you know... everyone is being paid the same? :)

You know this, how? My concern is a witch hunt. That people begin to assume that just because someone working a job is Hispanic, automatically means they are an illegal immigrant. You don't know that and you shouldn't diminish their character in your mind based on unfounded conclusions.

I'm no Trump fan by any stretch, However (respectfully) If I want to start a conversation with someone who is supporting him about the issues he stands for that I obviously disagree with, I probably wont be very convincing to them if I start out accusing them of being "less-educated". They would no doubt consider me arrogant and listen to nothing else I had to say.

Trump will drop out during the final push for elections. This will then cause all of his followers to vote for Jeb Bush, who will subsequently win.

It's all very, ah, planned.

The TeaParty supports him. The same people that like Bachmann, Palin, Allen West, etc.. Dangerous people.

The funny thing is that the TeaParty astroturf movement was created by the Koch brothers and republican establishment media like Fox and Rush in 2009. The TeaParty was successful in 2010 elections. Since then, the TeaParty has been eating the republican party and it's creators alive.

It is nice to see their creation come back to destroy them. I 100% support Trump as the republican nominee, only TeaPartiers don't understand why. Someone tells the Teapartiers that democrats are afraid of Trump. And we all know who (RW propaganda)

No offense but the jobs your talking about are low wage crap jobs that can't support an individual let alone a family on.

we need better jobs and better wages.

Where did race come into this? :)

The "We" in "We" the people is the people that actually live here, not the ones that just decided to squat.

There are legit ways for people to immigrate and I'm cool with it when they do.

And, why are supporting families the only reason to do the work? Teens in my town basically have a choice of selling drugs or doing nothing. There are so few jobs that they can do because of the situation.

I worked for a meat packing plant once and used to yell, "inmigración" at lunch breaks. Sure, I was kind of a jerk but it didn't explain why twenty employees were standing in the parking lot sweating with cigarettes in their mouths...

Years later, I worked at a canning facility... did the same thing... as a joke... sixty standing outside...

Since no one has been enforcing the laws that are on the books I can't imagine it is any different. You know what I don't like? It's just they can decide to not follow the law and that's "Ok" to some people. If we can do that then let's just stop paying taxes or following the rules of the road and drive as fast as we want, I mean... screw rules! It's the precedent that I am completely against...

You still haven't unveiled your magical technique for picking out illegal immigrants in a group. Also, you were not kind of a jerk, you were a jerk.

I'm against it, but for the reason of national health and the side effects are pretty dreary. If you want me to talk more, PM... or start that thread... I really feel it is off the mark as far as the topic of this discussion. :)

I was just interested in your view because of what you said about people ignoring Federal Law and thinking it's OK. Thanks for answering.

No other country in the world would allow an undocumented worker to even STAND in their country,
Actually different countries have different positions. In Canada, for example, every child, regardless of immigration status and legal/illegal status, is entitled to an education.

I live in the Midwest as well. Mexicans aren't working the jobs your kid could do, they are working at food processing plants, slaughter houses, agriculture jobs, and other jobs your kids don't want to do. And that itself isn't so much of a problem. The problems are that we have an utter lack of jobs outside of factory/warehouse, agriculture, and food service/retail. There is nothing to blame the Mexicans for, but rather state policy makers and corporations who only send us low-skill jobs that send college grads to places outside of the Midwest.

The simple truth is that the jobs in question are unquestionably some of the worst jobs in the world, and stuff that most American citizens are not going to do, as long as they can help it, period. People can survive unemployment for a long time. Very few people are going to work a hard, monotonous job for no benefits and **** pay, and no legal protection, in which you will have undoubtedly low social standing, and will face stigma as such. It's not that hard to understand. It's not just teenagers. No one wants to work the night shift milking cows and cleaning up huge mounds of poo and pee all the day. It's physically demanding, mentally and emotionally unrewarding, and gives you no particular promise of better opportunity. It will be immigrants or robots, because milk prices are more or less fixed. No American is going to go pick Tomatoes at 7 dollars an hour, unless they were more or less forced.
