That's not saying that they're "normal". A paraphilia is an abnormal sexual behavior or desire that could be problematic if acted on. Furthermore, a paraphilia is usually something you must have in order to achieve sexual satisfaction. Now, if you're able to function normally in your daily life (like being attracted to children, but you don't act on it) and it's not causing a lot of stress, it's not necessarily a clinically significant problem. There are pedophiles who don't act on it, and who even form communities (like message boards) for support and discuss their issues in a non-judgmental setting. I've known people like that. But if it's becoming something that's causing distress and you feel you can't control yourself, then it's something that it's recommended you seek treatment for.

By "want to be happy" and "get their way", you mean that they wanted equality, rights, liberty, and justice, and to be treated with dignity, right? Something that all citizens want and should have? How LGBTQ people live their lives doesn't harm others, and there is no rational justification to meddle in their lives, especially not in a country that's supposed to embody freedom.
As we've already explained and established, you can't extend the same to pedophiles. There is simply no comparison. No one is pushing for the normalization or acceptance of the victimization of children. This is just some silly boogeyman concocted by kooky fundamentalists.

May I suggest Paxil, 20 mg once daily, subject to change after initial dosing x 2 wks.

Exactly, as why it's not a disorder unless it causes undue stress socially, occupationally, and other parts of the patients life.

I think those who treat other humans as humans - with compassion, dignity, and respect - (you know, kinda like Jesus did) have a moral high ground above those meander through life with their eyes, ears, and fists clinched.
