South to Canada? No wonder you are so messed up.

I find the term "American" referring to US citizens awkwardly self-centered and imprecise.
America is a pair of continents spanning the globe. Vinayaka and LuisDantas are both American.

Except that the full name of our country is the United States of America. Mexico's full name translated is the United States of Mexico. When it comes to naming rights it is often a matter of who was first. We are Americans just as our friends south of the border are Mexicans, or in their own language Mexicanos, sorry but my keyboard does not let me put in the correct diacritical accent mark over the "e".

Everyone knows that “American” refers to citizens of the United States of America. It’s used all over the world.

I was going to say this, but figured it wasn't worth it. A bit like the World Series. I just call myself Canadian and forget it. The name of your country is so inconvenient for turning it into a proper adjective. United Statesian just doesn't work.

"Usonian" never really caught on...except with a few oddballs.
These are just names....like the "English" we speak (even though we're not).
What matters is that people understand each other.

I was torn, bacon also seems like a good answer. I agree that a deal must be worked out, but both sides need to see that they are not going to get it all their way. Trump has to bend a bit.

Or, and I am just throwing this out there, he gets his wall, Democrats get single payer health care. Win Win.
I could agree with that.

The title states my position.
The cost of in dispute is less than 1 month's cost of the shutdown.
Both sides are costing us dearly for what appears to be political posturing.
Anyone else agree?
I voted Bacon.

You asked us to explain.

The pig gave up its life to give us Bacon. Maybe the government should get over itself and give up something so its employees are able to bring home the bacon.

The Trump is never going to get his wall, the American people don't want it. Especially that the American people don't want their tax dollars paying for something Mexico was promised to pay for.
That little campaign line about the wall would have been stupid if everyone chanted "We're paying for the wall!"
I voted for #3 because there will be no wall and the gov't will reopen once the Trump compromises and realizes he's still a horrible deal maker.
