Ethical to breed animals for its only purpose to be eaten?

Jokes on all the Vegetarians: Your Salad hears that something is wrong when you eat it and wants it to stop.
I realise you're probably joking, but this isn't what the paper says.

It would also be a problem for everyone ethically if it were the case. Meat eaters also eat plants, and more importantly meat eaters eat animals - which eat plants - lots of plants.

And by the way, the plants are dead by the time we eat them.

Don't worry in due time there will be a paper about mammal herbivores. It would be kinda strange if plants would only react this way to insects.

Also "It would also be a problem for everyone ethically if it were the case" always cracks me up.

btw whether a plant is dead once we eat it depends on the plant and the way we prepare it. A biologist would never suggest that the plants in your average salad are dead.

Why?

Well, that's nice. I find it amusing that you find it amusing.

I never knew that.

What about in chickpea curry? Would a biologist ever suggest the plants involved are dead?

Now I am sure I just gave you a like for being soft hearted , ....

Gotta say tho, I still see slaughtering animals cruel :(

but , ...

Dunno guys, but looking at some animals and there nature, it feels like they were created/evolved (ever since they existed maybe?!?!) for the sole purpose to be eaten. I mean, they ended up with no natural ability to live on their own, depending on humans to live. Chicken for example, AFAIK, are completely useless for anything but to eat. Cows, sheep and domestic cattle and poultry in general are like that. The only way to not eat them in the end is not get rid of them.

Dunno... am I making sense?

Hmmm lets think this one out propperly , ....the Cows , Sheep and Chickens you have become familliar with have been bread for domestic purposes , ...we have bread their natural tendancies out of them , .....you are right they have ''ENDED UP '' dependant on Humans , but that is not how they began , ...they began as independent species

many modern breeds of sheep canot give birth without human intervention , ...why ? breeding , ...we have interbread sheep to acheive a fat and profitable lamb , ....Nice arnt we , ...

amazing hill sheep birth all by them selves and dont need us , ...a freind of ours kept Jacob and Balwen specificaly because they are not reliant on Humans and they are hardy and Birth naturaly without problems and can survive the colder winters on Hill farms , ...so they dont need us to look after them and they especialy dont need us to steal their babies for the easter dinner table , .....

and here is a nice little picture for the next person that tries to tell me that Animals dont have feelings , .....

I recognize that animals are sentient, conscious beings with their own complex inner and outer lives and all the other wonderful things that sciences tell us about them. But I still eat meat and enjoy leather. I am a bear, after all.

its ok , we all have to make our own choices , that I beleive is part of the spiritual process .

......we are all constantly assesing our own ethics , ...and the ethics of our own cultures , ....but for those cultures who do eat meat I can only emplore them all to think more about treating those animals in their care with Kindness and respect , ...many meat eaters are not aware of the suffering which some unscrupulous farmers will subject their animals to , ....and please note everyone , I said some not all ! ....

my father came from a farming family , meat eating was the norm , but my Nana was ded against factory farming on ethical grounds , ...quite rightly she objected to this , ...
