Everyday Sexism by Females

Feminism is the belief both genders may become equal by focusing solely on one of them. :)

Well, besides the fact that that's not entirely accurate, the gender that's the primary focus and source of the name is the one that's been subverted for centuries.

When you have inequality, you create equality by elevating the one that's lower.

That said... why do you even feel the need to bring this up?

To have self-interest does not necessarily make for oppression. That requires a systemic legal and socio-economic revocation of rights already granted, or prevention of rights and protections of marginalized classes.

The OP mentioned this topic is not a feminist issue, so perhaps it would be best to save this tired debate of "how-feminism-is-anti-male" for another thread.

I get it even at home, I'm supposed to be doing all the "man" stuff, I mean I guess its fair but since its equal rights, there isn't a limit for me now, gardening, dishes, whatever just limits for her from these so called "man" things. Is that just me or anyone else sense the irony here?

I can only speak as a short person...I ask husband to reach up to get things only because he's tall. Not because he's a man.

When it comes to auto work or heavy lifting, he and I share the labor. All of us chip in on the gardening and the lawn care, whether it's mowing the lawn or raking leaves, man/woman/boy/girl...the other week it was daughter's turn to cut the grass. So she did. Husband does the laundry more than I do. But he prefers being on top of having clean clothes and linens available.

I do the most cooking. Only because I'm really really good at it and the family really enjoys what I cook. AND I really really like cooking. Not because I'm a woman. Just a preference.

Similar here :)

I sometimes do the dishes, prepare the dining table and vacuum my own room. We do not demand cooking and usually bring take aways. We actually hire a maid to do the work so my mother and two sisters don't do much.

No complaints here, I'm actually happy. They cannot drive to go whenever they want and the weather is so hot here for them to go walking, not to mention the age of my mother, so I'm willing to do everything for them. Yeah, maybe I cannot go whenever I want too, but I'm having it much easier than them still.

Unfortunately, there are far too many sex-predators in this world, not all of them men. But I doubt it reaches to levels of 95%, at least in these parts. I don't know what it's like in Sicily, but one's own culture should never be used as a microcosm for the entire world.

Yes...you are right. I shouldn't generalize. I just think that Italian women would really envy American women...because they don't usually face insensitive, selfish men

Well, I understand just fine. It's like breaking one of your brother's toys because you got one present less than he did for Christmas.

Uh... no it isn't.

Using that analogy, it's like being given only one present while your brother got 15, and then asking your parents to treat you fairly.

Yes, they do. On a very, very regular basis.

You tell me. You're the one who used the analogy.

Assuming these gifts came from various sources, 15 different people let's say, do you believe the givers of said presents should somehow be reprimanded for their actions/behaviour?

Not reprimanded, no.

Just informed that they're not being as fair as they think.

After all, when there's unfairness going on, leaving it alone isn't exactly the right thing to do.

Do you believe it's fair to expect a party to freely give out, from their own sweat and toil, to a group of people who they don't believe deserve it?

The thing is, women have been supressed for many years, as also blacks, what I have noticed is that when someone is supressed, in time it all turns the other way. Women then become the stronger, as also blacks, and it goes around and around, until someone which is mature see's what is happening, and drops all this crap, for tic for tat. If this neurotic behaviour continues, it will then turn back to where it started.
