Evil Is the Essence of Everything That Exists.

I know that sounds bleak.

I believe that this universe's essence is it's Creator, the substance of the universe is the Demiurge. Every atom and electron, every molecule or chemical compound, all of life, human and animal is informed by the Demiurge. All that of which is matter and all of that which is energy is the manifestation of God's being.

This is basically pantheism...but I also happen to believe God is evil and imperfect and since God is evil and imperfect so is God's creation. And that include us, in fact while I believe that God is the possibility, the potential and will of evil, I believe that every single human being living on this planet is the actualization of evil.

I don't think that God is utterly evil, I think God is more of a mediocre and inept sort of being and that is probably why the majority of the human race is mediocre and inept, because we are accurately reflecting our Creator, who is a banal sort of evil. But I also believe that the Creator has a "shadow" side of himself that he is in contention with and wishes to destroy because he is ignorant that this "opposite" side of himself is him. And it is this contention which causes the presence of radical evil in our world. Radical evil is what happens when God rages against God for doing evil, which results in greater evils being committed.

God is also not totally evil because God wants good, he wants order and he wants justice, it is just his ignorance that prevents him from achieving any of these thing. He intends good but because of his ignorance we get evil, he intend order but we get chaos, he intends justice but we get injustice. His ignorance as corrupted him and it is his ignorance that permeates all so it corrupts everything. We too often seek to do good but often in our endeavors we only make things worse.

So basically we live in a crap sack world because we have a crappy Creator. But he is a creator and he does manage to create things of beauty when inspired but I really don't think that inspiration comes from him.

So what do you think?

Sounds like Walt Disney played backwards.

You obviously haven't read--or at least noticed--the article I posed in the "No evil" thread about the nonexistence of evil.

Nor is God "malevolent and deceiving," to use your terminology.

Peace,

Bruce

It also means we are the actualization of all the other things like evil. Such as good, for example.

Sure and we do actualize God's good as well. But we seem to be inept at goodness as God is.

I cannot equate mediocrity and ineptness with evil. Both of these descriptions imply circumstance as opposed to intention.

When ineptness and mediocrity causes harm due to neglect and intentional ignorance then those qualities are definitely evil, a banal form of evil but evil nonetheless.

I can't equate ignorance with evil, either. For the same reason.

When it is intentional and stubborn I do equate it with evil.

"Evil" is just a human construct. The universe isn't "good" or "evil". It just is. I choose to view life as an evolutionary ascension of consciousness. To ascend, this takes many lifetimes and eons, and this includes experiencing pain and suffering. I don't believe in any creator deity, so I don't have your issue. Your form of Gnosticism is just severe depression and despair given a religious veneer. The logical conclusion of your path is suicide.

Suicide is not an option. I don't see anything depressing or despairing about it and Gnosticism has a very beautiful message of hope.

Ok. I guess my first question would be:
Since you are imposing limits on the infinite, your G-d must not be completely infinite. If it is not infinite, what came before your G-d or maybe, who created it in that state?

This isn't my God, it's yours.

And he is only infinite relative to the universe.

I know, I am a panentheist.

The question was not on the pantheist aspect of her position, but with respect to the character flaws. If her god is not omniscient, then her god is limited in what he can know. And perhaps not omnopotent in that he can't create anything better than he did.

Correct. How could you call the creator of this universe intelligent let alone omniscient? How can we even think of him powerful let alone omnipotent. Just look at the world around you does it seem like it was created by an intelligent being. More like a blind idiot god than an omnipotent God.

Hmm. I think the Essence of Everything That Exists might be even worse. Instead of it being evil, it is intangible, not graspable, indifferent, purposeless, and recklessly chaotic. But, ya know, whatever helps you help at night.

And they call me depressing?

Question Everything
...I also happen to believe God is evil and imperfect and since God is evil and imperfect so is God's creation....

Us Mormons believe that God is cleaning up a mess He did not create...

https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/93.29?lang=eng#28
93:29 Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be.
30 All truth is independent in that sphere in which God has placed it, to act for itself, as all intelligence also; otherwise there is no existence.
31 Behold, here is the agency of man, and here is the condemnation of man; because that which was from the beginning is plainly manifest unto them, and they receive not the light.

There are a few others who do not believe God is the creator too:

God is not the Creator, claims academic
The notion of God as the Creator is wrong, claims a top academic, who believes the Bible has been wrongly translated for thousands of years.
God is not the Creator, claims academic - Telegraph

there is this:
Hebrew Root Word Studies
"The English word "create" is an abstract word and a foreign concept to the Hebrews. While we see God as one who makes something from nothing (create), the Hebrews saw God like a bird who goes about acquiring and gathering materials to build a nest (qen), the sky and earth. The Hebrews saw man as the children (eggs) that God built the nest for. "

etc.

Sure and we do actualize God's good as well. But we seem to be inept at goodness as God is.

By comparison to what? If God is inept at 'goodness' and we are inept at 'goodness' then what is it that IS NOT inept at goodness by which you are able to realize that we and God are inept?

When ineptness and mediocrity causes harm due to neglect and intentional ignorance then those qualities are definitely evil, a banal form of evil but evil nonetheless.

Neglect and intentional ignorance are essentially the same thing in this context, I'm guessing. In any case, I think that's much closer to 'evil' than mediocrity and ineptness. So, neglect is when someone has obligated themselves towards some responsibility and out of apathy ignores that responsibility.

Which responsibility of God's do you believe God is neglecting and what would things look like if God was not neglecting that thing?

When it is intentional and stubborn I do equate it with evil.

This is the thing. In order for God to be intentionally ignorant, you must be aware of something it SHOULD know that it is purposefully ignoring. What is that thing?

So what do you think?

I think the essence of creation is goodness, the opposite of destruction and nothingness. When it is changed and evolved over time then there is no good or bad just changes in form. We see our suffering and deaths as destruction but that is an illusion, nothing really gets destroyed.

You don't see anything depressing in calling the universe evil and humans evil? To be honest, I've never seen you post anything that was the least bit hopeful.

Maybe I'm getting members mixed up but didn't you say you wanted to merge with god the other day?

Why would you want to merge with mediocrity and ineptitude?

Sounds like being that god would be a headache.
