Does anyone remember the Age of Apocalypse series?
No, but you reminded me of my favorite comic book series. They're not superheroes, but I LOVED "Sandman" by Neil Gaiman.

Lilithu I Love You You Are Soooooooooo Getting Fruballed And Coined For That!
Wow, thanks! That's the most action that I've gotten in a while. ;)

But Souldude, what are you doing coining me? I've got like 20 times as many coins as you now, and I'm not even sure what to do with them.

My powerbook is named powerpuff, btw. And my ipod is named MoJo-JoJo!! That is what I call my ipod, because that is the name that I have given it, because that is its name and it is refered to as that...

AOA was friggin sweet...i love the way they reinterpreted the characters for this timeline
So was it a reinterpretation of religious characters? Because I'm always interested in that. It's one of the reasons why I liked Sandman so much.

So no one else here liked the Tick, huh? How sad. :(

Hey i liked the Tick...the diner was sweet.

No AOA was this sort of alternative universe that marvel came up with...you see Prof. Xavier's son, legion, goes back in time to kill Magneto back when Magneto and Prof. X were still friends. Instead, just before Legion kills Magneto, Xavier moves in front of him to block it and is killed instead of Magneto. This sets off a chain of events that lead to the Age of Apocalypse (AOA) where Apocalypse, the destroyer of worlds, is fighting a war against an army of mutants led by Magneto and pretty much every other mutant on earth, including those who would have been mutants.

It's really cool...i'll post some pics comparing the differnce in characters.

I think anything from the DC/Vertigo series is an impressive starting point for anyone who does not believe that sequential art is a valid artform and that the graphic novel is a serious literature form as much as any other novel or non-fiction book. Comics aren't just Archie and Casper(not that I have anything against these characters), they have matured and I have grown with the industry and it never ceases to to impress and entertain me.

To give you an example of the change...here's the Beast we all know and love:

Now here's the AOA "Dark Beast" who's like a mad scientist:

"Excellent pictures Vigil is that marker you are using for the color?"

Actually, they are scanned and done in photoshop.

And yes I have heard of Age of Apocalypse. The wildchild I drew is the AoA version.

I loved the Tick, too!

Master Vigil, your creations are truly amazing! (I loved the way you drew Beast, especially.)

I also love "Sandman," my two favorite characters being

Death, of course. (I love her attitude, and the fact that she's portrayed.)

And...

Her youngest sister, Delirium. I don't know how anyone can't like a character who, if she doesn't concentrate, will sometimes turn into 101 multicolored fishies, each of which whistles a different tune. (Can't remember the exact quote, sorry.)

Captain Obvious
Aaaarrrrggh...so many pictures, and I can't view a one (maybe when I get a new computer I'll come back and take a lookie, and that's looking like soon).
